Ephesians 4:27 neither give place to the Devil.
90 percent of the times that we sin happen because we make allowance for it in our lives. We may say to ourselves, we should not do that, or even hate the sin. But in our hearts we are double minded, and still prone to thinking about it, pondering it, reasoning about it. When we do that we are tilling the soil for the evil seed to be planted, and then watering it:
James 1:14 But each one is tempted by his lusts, being drawn away and seduced by them.
James 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin. And sin, when it is fully formed, brings forth death.
Once it is planted and growing it will bring forth the fruit of death. We have to realize that like God, Satan is a gardener:
Matthew 13:24 He put another parable before them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field,
Matthew 13:25 but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away.
He comes to plant his seed, and we water it with our thought life and will as we give in to the temptation mentally and allow for the sin in our life. As we continue to allow for it, it will continue to bear fruit and defeat us over and over again. We need to purge the sin by bringing it to God and repenting of it (turning our will and thought life over to God, in agreement with His word):
1 John 1:9 if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness
When we take sides against ourselves and agree with God about our sin, He will pluck it out by the roots and cause us to walk in His ways:
Ezekiel 36:27
And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.
Don't allow Satan to plant and water evil seed, which is how he brings sin into our lives. We need to have the mind of Christ, taking every thought into captivity into obedience to Christ:
2 Corinthians 10:5
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
1 Corinthians 2:16
For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
