  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You can show the same in the wise through the spending up of the substance

Prov 29:3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father:
but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.

Prov 20:20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise;
but a foolish man spendeth it up.

Here is a mirror

Mat 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise,
Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

Even as it says,

Prov 13:9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth:
but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

So there is a treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise

Whereas Paul says,

2 Cr 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,
that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Redeem the time be not fools (but wise)

Ephes 5:15-16 See then that ye walk circumspectly,
not as fools, but as wise
, Redeeming the time,
because the days are evil
.

Ephes 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise,
but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

It says, the spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD (and he is the light who searches our inwards out)

Prov 20:27 The spirit of man is the candle/ lamp of the LORD,
searching all the inward parts of the belly
.

Whereas for us its "thy word"

Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
and a light unto my path.

Thy name is as an ointment poured forth, therefore the Virgins do love thee...

As it says here,

Songs 1:3 Because of the savour of thy good ointments *thy name* is as ointment poured forth,
therefore do the virgins love thee.

There are both wise and foolish virgins, the wise here (per our Lords words)

Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them,
I will liken him unto a wise man

Even James says,

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

As it says here,

Mat 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

And example of the foolish can be followed through in the words "Lord, Lord" (in more of a double-minded sense, unstable in all their ways) which hear but do not the things the Lord says

For example here...

Luke 6:6 And why call ye me, *Lord, Lord*, and do not the things which I say?

Shown in the foolish virgins....

Mat 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, *Lord, Lord*, open to us.

Which appears to mirror here, not in words but in works

Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him,
being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate
.

As the Lord knoweth them that are His,

as he says in this case...

To the foolish who said, Lord, Lord, "open up to us"

Mat 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Even as here...

Psalms 101:4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

Even as here...

Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you:
depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Again,

1Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him,
being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

2Titus 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal,
The Lord knoweth them that are his.
And
, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

The above is also in accord with the foundation of "hearing and doing" His words (whether foolish or wise)

Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock

The sure foundation is Christ and his words (abide in me and my words in you) being neither ashamed of him or his words.

Paul says let those that name Christ name to depart from iniquity because you dont want to hear the dreaded words from Christ (you-ward) to depart from me ye that work it (iniquity).

A continuance in the things seems to be shown. You can bring other verses into it as well.
