What did Jesus mean when he said these words, "His master said to him, Well done, my good and faithful servant; since thou hast been faithful over little things, I have great things to commit to thy charge; come and share the joy of thy Lord." Did the servant do good?

It is a parable, of course, and some will see that as making it a story rather than reality, yet I wonder do any do good?

It is from the parable of the talents. They were given a small task, but they were given a great reward (Heaven itself). It has to do with the obligation to work for God, and He will reward us according to the measure of our work.

"Good" is relative.

If we do the very best, we could do, that is also the minimum we could do.
We fall short and need God's forgiveness.

I see this sort of thing written a lot. Yet the scriptures give some examples of people called good without such a qualification being applied to them. Job is called perfect, Enoch was taken up because he pleased God, Blessed Mary obeyed God and is to be called Blessed through all generations. I wonder if this kind of deprecation is not a species of false humility imposed on the genuinely good mentioned in the scriptures.

Here is where I get my idea from: Luke 17: 7 “Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? 8 Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’? 9 Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? 10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’”

Such words may apply to most people but clearly did not to Jesus, nor to the people mentioned in my previous post.

Yes Jesus went beyond the requirement.
Today we are just allowing the Spirit to work through us, so who cannot do that and what would be our reward for just allowing?

Did the Good Samaritan do good? Did the sheep in Matt 25 do good? Do the righteous in 1 John 3 do good?
“To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.” Rom 2:7

Doing true good is always in some way to cooperate with the grace of God, loving with a love that only He can enable in us, to put it another way.

It's not about doing good as you know it. It's about following the instructions in the Bible shortly before the arrival of Jesus.

What are those instructions?

Get out of the way of the harvests. A harvest is a nuclear attack, like the one in Isaiah 17. You have to move to a foreign land if your homeland is a target. Note: America is a target.

Revelation 25:24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed.

That's the harvest of the weeds. Who is a weed? Anybody still there at the time of the harvest. You're supposed to move.

Will you do it? No way. It's better to die, as several people have told me.
