They say 'man's best friend is a dog!' They are such companions. We had a crossbred dog called Buster and a West Highland Terrier called Jock. What dogs do you like?

Love Newfies but havn't owned one. Had a German Shepherd, she was my child hood companion. The last old dog I had was a real Red Dog:

cried much when he died.
The younger one I/we have now is a Great Dane/Huntaway cross. She is a very soft dog but not to many brains and very loud when excited.

mornings before school, she sits on floor & dog climbs across her lap to be pet for about five min
it's so sweet & I keep taking pics of them together

My favourite breeds are the Irish Wolfhound and the Scottish Deerhound. Huge dogs, but so trusting and soft tempered. I remember walking through the streets of York and came across a huge wolfhound. It was like meeting a horse! I was a complete stranger, but he wanted to come up and say hello. I also like Newfoundlands and labrador retrievers.

I have yet to find one to outrun a mountainbike.

The keenest of dogs we have enjoyed were the Australian Sheep Dog and Poodle. But every now and then, a gem from the mixed selection comes along. One particular one I recall from our horse racing days back in the 70s was one who was deeply affectionate to the extent of aggressively participating in the training alongside us as horse&driver on the track during workouts. Of course this was with no compulsion from us at all.
