  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Neither one is better than the other! Just because you prefer one over the other doesn't automatically make it better--just a better choice for you, LOL.

Both dogs and cats have unique traits that make them excellent pets. I have dogs, because I'm allergic to cats, but I love cats, too, and wish I could have them as pets. I don't think dogs are "better" than cats--they just are a better pet for me.

I chose cats, because I tend to relate to them better, dogs are like little kids and are always getting in the way. Another thing is, is that cats generally live longer than dogs do. I had one of my cats for 17 years, before having to give her to my parents, they live 7 hours away from me.

I started out to be pre-vet so I'm a little torn on this subject. I have had several dogs and cats through the years. I now have 2 cats and an Iguana. They are all very low maintance. Plus if I go out of town I don't have to have them baby sat. As for allergies and cats. I have allergies and how I get around them is to have the cats shaved. Yes, you're reading this right. There is a cut for cats called the lion cut that they shave then except for the head legs and about 3" at the tip of the tail. This keeps them from shedding and their hair getting everywhere. Plus it helps w/ cleaning and the electronics in the house. They seem to like being shaved because they are cooler and more playful. I did have to get rid if my dogs :(. The down fall to having them is they need a lot of time and attention. I wasn't able to give them that and so one ate the wires to the A/C twice and disconnected the phone line outside twice. The other one ate his way through a bathroom door after closing him self up in it that morning. Mind you I came home for lunch to check up on him and I'm glad I did. I had to put him back in his kennel. In different areas that both have their down falls, but they are all wonderful creatures and yeah I miss my dogs. :( Just glad I was able to find them a home.

Cats are better. Worshipped by the Ancient Egyptians, have 9 lives, never bark, are considered "clean" animals by all of the major world religions, are excellent eco-friendly pest control, look nice in windowsills, and their cousin is the King of Beasts!

:)

I have four cats: raeya (age:4), Jeb Stuart (age:3), Wicket (age:1), and Xena (age:2). (the first three are all black) I'm starting to suspect that I get one a year... yikes.

Because they are more independent and they do what they want to do. I love my kitty but he is trained. He is even trained to take a bath. He'll sit under the faucet and tolerate the water and bubbles..took a couple tries though
