No statistics say you got a better shot if you are Asian; or even Nigerian (they do better than whites too)
Is this just another one of your speculations? Here is how I see it; Washington DC is a very liberal city run by black and brown people in positions of power. These people in power de-funded the police cutting millions from the budget. When the capital riot happened, the fact that the police was not prepared for the attack is them just getting what they asked for; not an example of white supremacy. These people have nothing to complain about; it wasn't about black people in power enforcing white supremacy, it was about this stupid idea of defund the police coming back and biting them in the ---- (you know what)
To be fair, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has a bit more on her resume than bartending. Not only did she graduate cum laude from Boston University with a double major in economics and international relations, she also interned with Senator Ted Kennedy, and has worked as an activist on several issues.
Granted, many consider her working as a waitress and bartender to help support her mother, a house cleaner and school bus driver, as showing she understands how working people live, so those do get a lot of attention, but that is far from all she has done.
That said, I don't live in her district so I cannot vote for her, but I just felt that it would give a more complete picture to present more of her qualifications for office than you seem to be aware of. Though, I gotta say, a quick google search would have fixed that.
-- A2SG, on the other hand, I can't say I find much fault with your assessment of Trump.....
Fair enough ...she's done more than bartending.
The Green New Deal isn't exactly an impressive piece of legislation.
Has she introduced anything else?
Agreed. Two sides of the same coin. Our democratic system has a problem with truth
There is also Secret Service and mall security. You obviously have the right to your own speculationIs this just another one of your speculations? They have always been allowed to practice and celebrate their home culture where they learned honor and hard work and keeping the family first will always work.No statistics say you got a better shot if you are Asian; or even Nigerian (they do better than whites too)
Then why are Asians and Nigerians doing better than whites?
White privilege exists in the US. Asian privilege exists in Japan. But then, depending on where you live in the US, Black privilege, which exists, will get you farther than white privilege.Imagine this: there is an unprivileged white student who lives in a trailer park. Despite his lower socio-economic status, he does well in school and scores high on the SAT/ACT.
Meanwhile there is a a privileged black student whose parents are millionaires. Despite having access to all sorts of resources, he does okay in school and scores not as high on the SAT/ACT as the white trailer park student.
Both of these students apply to the same university. The less qualified, privileged black gets accepted, but the more qualified, unprivileged white gets rejected.
That's how affirmative action works in the United States. It purports to exist to even the playing field and help disadvantaged people of color, but in reality it discriminates against white people, including genuinely disadvantaged white people. It's very unfair. And people say "white privilege" exists.
Here is another example. In the NFL 70% of the athletes are black. No one is saying we should have more diversity in the NFL and implement quotas for more white, Hispanic, and Asian players. Meanwhile 75% of all NFL coaches are white, and people are saying that is a major problem that needs to be fixed by creating incentives for teams to hire less qualified coaches of color. You can read about it here: NFL owners table proposal incentivizing hires of minority coaches, GMs (usatoday.com)
So let me get this straight... White privilege purports to exists in the US. Yet everyone thinks it's okay when 70% of NFL players are black, but having 75% of all NFL coaches being white is somehow a problem that needs to be corrected. Are you kidding me?
Both examples I listed sound like black privilege.
According to Congress.gov, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has sponsored or co-sponsored 568 pieces of legislation to date.
-- A2SG, seriously, dude, all I'm doing here is googling....
Thanks for pointing that out. My guess as for the reason they weren't prepared for such a huge rush on the Capital, is because of the countless rallies Trump has had over the years, none of them ever turned violent so they perhaps didn't think this one would either.Except that "defund the police" and DC had nothing to do with the Capitol "riot".
1. The US Capitol Police are *not* funded by the city of Washington, but rather by the the Federal government via Congress. The Mayor and citizens of DC have no say in their funding level. (DC is not represented in congress by voting representatives or any senators.)
2. The USCP budget has been going up, not down.
3. The biggest problem with the USCP and the response to the insurrection seems to have been that they only deployed the usual level of officers for a Wednesday despite credible intelligence that embedded in the crowd of rally goers/protesters would be organized, violent anti-government militias.
I agree; culture and a strong family values makes all the differenceThey have always been allowed to practice and celebrate their home culture where they learned honor and hard work and keeping the family first will always work.
(LOL)
Donald Trump held countless rallies all over the country prior to January 6th, not a single one even came close to turning into a riot. BLM had countless rallies all over the country prior to coming to DC and lots of them resulted in riots. Judging from that information alone, which one do you think poses more of a threat? Which one would it make more sense to be more prepared for?
Again; what do you think he meant when he said the decision makers in DC looked like the rioters?
Is this the first time the IC had indications such groups would be at the countless rallies Trump had that turned out peaceful? Or were there the same warning signs at this rally that have been at many of his other rallies? In recent years, DHS has repeatedly identified domestic terrorism as the number one threat to our security. After the fact, we learn the FBI was concerned with the amount of "chatter" from far-right extremist groups days before the rally. If the IC had indications that such groups would be at the rally, why wasn't a cross agency security assessment done? My question remains.
My understanding was that at least one “White House liaison” was barred from the Justice Department. If the IC had indications that such groups would be at the rally, why wasn't a cross agency security assessment done?
Why would they be violent at a Trump rally? Is this the first time the IC had indications such groups would be at the countless rallies Trump had that turned out peaceful?
No, I am talking about a group of people not quite a million years ago but my father in his childhood got to meet a distant family member who was a young slave. This was right after the war. Those older generations were stripped of everything but the ability to work. When learning to read can get a person beaten or even killed, education for that culture will be highly coveted but not seen as important for everyday survival. When you say Africans, are you talking about the Nigerians immigrants who out preform white people in America? Or some stuff that happened a million years ago. And which European culture are you talking about and why would they have a need to adopt it if they live in USA?
