Does this make anyone else angry?

i was just having a semi-argument with a friend who said that I self-mutilate.... i hate that word - and then he said well I could call it defacing one of God's masterpieces instead if you prefer.... grrrrrrr it makes me so mad!!! it shows how much understanding those who have nt been there actually have

Diva love it sounds like he was trying to get you to stop. some people think that if they give you anotther way to look at it, it will help you to "see the light" and quit. some times our friends need to do this for us. not that it will work, but that that care and are aware. it is prcious that he called you a masterpiece. you are. God sees us as his lovely lambs. ofcourse, i wasn't there. this is just looking at your post. i hope everything between you both is a blessing. love ya, dee

i do think that it is hurting God , he lives in us and thought us so its hurts him ....but he loves us just the same...that means we have to stop dont get caught up in what you call it it hurts just the same ...

You have to understand that those who have never done this....well most who have never done this does not understand it. People fear what they do not understand.

I've been there, and I know it's so frustrating... it's just a hard thing for some people to understand. They've never been through situations that would push them to those limits, and/or don't have a lot of negative thoughts about themselves or negative painful memories.

Our bodies are a wonderful mass that God gave us to carry out life here on earth, but at the same time, they are just the temporary outer shell which encompasses our mind and soul. Some people neglect their body in some way, and some spend too much time focusing on it. It's simply the part of us that we can never deny exists, that we see often, that allows us to feel SOMETHING in those times when we are emotionally and spiritually numb.

When you're in so much emotional pain that you feel a need to inflict physical pain to release your emotions/calm down, you're not usually thinking about anything else. Maybe try to explain that to your friend? I'm sorry you're dealing with this, but I hope it's at least comforting to know that there are others out here who understand! My prayers are with you.

The simple fact is I haven't done it in like 6 weeks and he knows that..... we've had this discussion before and I've always told him to stop because he always upsets me!!!

All you can do is try to help them understand.
Patience pays off often. There will always be those who refuse to listen to you, but don't let them get you down.

I wouldn't be where I am today without the help of a few patient people who helped me understand.

yah,this is why I let it all out with my therapist rather than friends,family,people I love.the response I got made me react more. Kindness can be brutal if they dont think before they speak.

I do agree that patience pays. The main problem is that people do not understand why a person SI's. And, sadly, and unchristianly, they turn their backs quickly.
In your case Diva, I'd try sitting down and telling him why you did it. And, I pray he'll understand.

Alot of people don't understand and can say some really hurtful things b/c they don't understand. Don't let him get to you. It makes God sad when you hurt yourself but just b/c he loves you so much.
