Does satan exist?

'Christian' scholars say a lot of things. Friedrich Schleiermacher, David Strauss, and Rudolf Bultmann, to name a few, were vocal participants in what has become a major school in Christian scholarship, or, should I say, secular scholarship on biblical matters. I disagree with their conclusions, however.

Demons are incompatible with a purely secular and naturalistic worldview, so naturally they will be explained away by illnesses... but that also raises questions as to what Christ was doing. The latter will likely be explained away by manuscript corruptions and legends.

It's the wisdom of today , the opinion of most scholars, that where the Bible talks of demonic possession it is in fact an illness which is occurring

But when they believe that it is caused by demons, then "mind over matter" becomes possible due to the power of belief...

Hi Aidan,

I'd say that satan is an actual entity, being that the biblical writers seemed to contextualize him as such.
