Repentance is not a feeling sorry for sins, it's not a mental or emotional ascent of attitude, it's an action, an actual turning around from, a ceasing from.

The action of our being Baptized is the greatest example of a Believer Repenting of their sins, because they have put away the Flesh, the Old Man,
Died to the Flesh and become alive, unto Newness life in the Spirit.

Now that is True Repentance, where a Believer has Ceased from his sins.
Do we repent once or every time we sin? Or is dying to sin daily a separate exercise?

How many times should it take for a Christian to receive Salvation?

Do you not know, you are Dead to sin?

Rom. 6:2
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Rom. 6:10,11
10) For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11) Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Everyone who repented in the Bible still got punishment. David repented... but his child still died.... David did a census but Israel was still struck by sickness, Ahab repented but his family was still killed.... shall I go on? A common theme is for fellow Christians is to promote repentance as some type of “get out of jail free card” where God won’t punish (or potentially kill you or someone else) by doing it. Is there anyone in the Bible who repented and just went on with their life?
When we repent the sin is forgotten and forgiven by God as far as the east is from the west. He will not count that sin against us either at the Bema Seat or Great White Throne Judgement.

What you speak of are the temporal consequences of our sins. We carry those scars and the consequences of our actions in this life. God may for instance grant His common grace upon something we did in sin and not have the consequences as serious.

For example, not every alcoholic ends up with liver damage or pancreatic cancer.

However, if we harm others or even murder or steal even repented of we face the temporal legal consequences of our actions.

More common? One may divorce two or more times and have kids from multiple marriages. Then become a believer in Christ. Those broken family relations will still exist. Perhaps now being a child of God one can mend fences and forgive and be forgiven. Yet the temporal acts happened and cannot be erased from history. We are forgiven but while here still on earth bear those scars.

Repentance is getting up and going on.
The choice is that or staying in the gutter of sin.
God is not about unicorns and wish fulfilment. The bad that you have done is permanent because it is true. Forgiveness does not change the truth of that bad.
It is easy to stay in the gutter. It is not so easy to get up and use the rest of your life to make something better than that bad.
Do better. That is the only imperative.

Not quite.

Mark 1:4
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

Luke 3:3,4
3) And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
4) As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
..quite! Clear actually

45Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things. 49I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
