  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Some of you may have seen the commercial.

Does the product actually work if done correctly with proper excercise and diet?

It basically claims to help you lose up to 20lbs in a month but it seems to get quite pricey. Thirty dollars a bottle and if you really want the 20lbs off in a month effect, you may need 2 or 3 bottles depending on the number of meals per day you have to meet the recommended dosage.

So does it work? Is it worth it?

Please beware: My mom wanted to try this product, they said on the commercials $30.. buy one get one free.. free shipping. Since she has no credit card and I have a debit card w/the Visa logo I offered to purchase it for her an she gave me the funds. I got it in the mail yesterday and about fainted. They had charged 89.85 to my account.. out of my checking mind you. So I called them up and ranted with a firm voice. It turns out it was pivital on the "free express delivery with full payment"... I took that, figuring (and not being told differently) that sure why not pay the 29.95 in full and get "express" delivery for mom. What the heck right. Turns out, what they don't tell you on the commercials or when you call is that technically it's the 30 up front for the "trial" period. If you keep it you owe another 2 payments of 29.95. I was so ticked, the guy I talked to when I placed the order even lied to me. I asked straight out, now that will be only 29.95 on my account (after I was offered the express delivery even) and he told me yes. So my mom and I are going to contact the better business bureau and the state attourney general for false advertising.

My mom decided to keep it and pay me the extra 60 bucks and try it. So whenever she starts I can let you know. But just know it's not just 30 bucks. It's about 90 for a "months' supply.

Well, lets see.

The only studies that actually support its function as a weight loss agent are in journal so obscure I can not even find them with our mainframe and journal search account, which immediately makes me suspicious.

Propolene™ contains Glucomannan / Propol®, which is a 100% natural fiber extracted from the Konjac Root. Excelerene™ contains Green Tea, Chromium, Kola-nut, Bitter Orange, and Vitamins B6 and B12.

Now, lets see. Fiber makes you feel full, well guess what, psyillium husks are dirct cheap. Otherwise, you are getting caffeine, chromium, a couple vitamins that do nothing wrt weight loss, and green tea extract, which actually does something.

You can get the effective compounds (chromium, fiber, green tea) at Wal-Mart for less than half of what they are charging you.

Ingredients: Vitamin C, calcium, chromium, Cortiplex Blend (magnolia bark extract, beta-sitosterol, theanine), Leptiplex Blend (green tea extract, bitter orange peel extract), Insutrol Blend (banaba leaf extract, vanadium).

Not much better than the previous snake oil. There are only a couple of supplements that have ever been shown to have a significant effect on weight loss, and aside from green tea extract, which is, quite simply, rather weak, they both contain ephedra, which some people have trouble with.
