Thanks, I appreciate that. I think the started as a debate of whether 'god did it' is a valid explanation for anything. I don't remember where the argument is, at this point, however. So, what about evolution. I cannot even remember what the whole debate is about. It turned into unsubstantiated hopelessness without the inkling of morals or something or other. Sandwiches, you are a pretty good guy.
Does 'Goddidit' constitute an explanation? It doesn't matter if it's an untestable one, but does it count as an explanation?
In that respect, is it a scientific hypothesis, albeit a woefully poor one?
Do you believe that everyone involved in science that contradicts the Bible is involved in a smear campaign against the Bible? How do you feel about the many Christian scientists who have brought forth evidence that contradicts the Bible? Do you think they're also liars?Oh, ya, God did it and I could have not done it myself. I could not die for my sins. God did it when He sent His Son to die for my sins, and anyone else's sins for that matter. I think good science backs up the bible, for the bible is truth. Fudged science from liars will make the bible look like nonsense. As for wisdom, read proverbs. History runs from cover to cover. We know that those who win the wars write history. So the Israelites have survived all these years and the Father of Israel wrote history. Even prophesied that Israel would become a nation again. God did it all. Praise JESUS!
Maybe not. I just wonder what exactly happens in people's lives that they feel they've made contact or have had some sort of supernatural experience. Like do people feel braver, stronger, smarter? All of the above? If so, how can they distinguish between a true outside force imbuing you with these properties versus your will to want those things. I mean, even without a specific belief or faith in the Bible god, cowards act bravely, weaklings gain strength, and many people excel intellectually past what they thought was their limit, etc. So, I wonder if whatever mechanism produces changes in these nonbelievers isn't the same for Christians? How would we be able to tell the difference?

Were you able to form entire intelligible sentences? Because if not, it's very easy to find that words exist in other languages that are created randomly. Also, usually gibberish is influenced by languages we're familiar with and won't diverge beyond the normal norms of those languages. For instance, I guarantee that despite your speaking in tongues, you won't be able to roll a single 'r' or double 'rr' like I am able to, without a lot of practice (Spanish being my first language and all.)I do not know about everyone's experiences, just my own. I have read the bible and God does what He says He will do.
Mark 16: 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
I have cast out demons and speak in tongues I never studied before. I wanted to know if they were true, and not counterfeit, so I speak the words and picture them. I have found them in a spanish dictionary. Tongues are a way that I know God exists, for He has given me a gift. I may not be able to prove He exists, but I know.
How do you know what God wants you to have? How do you distinguish this from any other feeling of wanton or desire?I feel braver, stronger, and smarter. I know that the Lord is on my side.
I want everything that God wants me to have.
Personally, for me, it was the opposite. I was shy when I first arrived in the US due to the culture and language differences. However, coincidentally, I started becoming more assertive after I accepted that I couldn't believe in the Bible anymore. But again, I wonder how we could distinguish between those who became better because of an outside supernatural entity versus those who did it on their own.I have always been pretty intelligent, but not the smartest. I have always wanted to be brave, but was often a coward, and not the strongest, kinda shy. God's word builds me up, so does praying in the Spirit.
I hope you're truly open to knowledge and wisdom. Remember:I have not excelled still in many facets. I work as a cook at dairy queen, but that really does not matter to me. If I was not there, who would tell people about Jesus Christ. God is not just going to give you a million dollars. He will give you other things more valuable than gold or silver, knowledge, understanding, wisdom. I do not know yet all He has given me. I still need to open up the gifts He has given me.
I wish you well on your journey and I hope you're happy, wherever it may take you.I am sorry. I do not know how to answer all of these questions. It can be quite complex. I do know that I have alot of questions and if I ask God, He will most likely lead me to the answer. It may take awhile, because He teaches so many things.
So, again, how do you feel abot Christian scientists like Kenneth Miller, who's one of evolution's most avid defenders AND a Catholic? No, Darwin loved to adventure and was in religion when he was younger. I can say I do like adventure. I do not know about any Christian science that contradicts the bible. A Christian should not lie. Liars will have their part in the lake of fire.
I do know there's contradictions in the Bible.I was stating personal opinion. I do not know everything about the arguments between evolution and creation. I do lean heavily toward creation science, though I do not know a whole lot about any of it. I do know that God exists.
I would reason that you most likely do not know if there is contradictions to the bible.

You'd raise your children according to your own world-view and hope to instil in your children the values that you hold to be true. Just like kenblaster.I have no children, but if I did, I certainly wouldnt fill their heads with unsupported nonsense.
I have no religious beliefs.

So, again, how do you feel abot Christian scientists like Kenneth Miller, who's one of evolution's most avid defenders AND a Catholic?
Or how about REVEREND Bob Bakker, another great supporter of evolution?
I do know there's contradictions in the Bible.
As you'll probably ask me for some examples:
Regarding Jospeh's dad:
Matthew 1:16 "And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ."
Luke 3:23 "And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli."
Which came first: Men or beats?
Beasts first:
Genesis 1:25 "And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."
Men first:
Genesis 2:18 "And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him."
Genesis 2:19 "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof."
How many men did Solomon have?
1 Kings 4:26 "And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen."
2 Chronicles 9:25 "And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem."

A List Of Biblical Contradictions
I have to be honest. I don't understand your answer. Is that a 'no?'
Wait I don't understand...
You told sandwiches that you reasoned he didn't know of any contradictions in the Bible.
Sandwiches provided a short list of contradictions.
And your answer is that it doesn't matter?
Are you simultaneously shifting the goalposts and ignoring evidence or did you mean to convey something else?
Ah you said contradictions to the bible, not in the bible. I think sandwiches made that mistake as well, it was a little difficult weeding around your grammar (no offense).I would reason that you most likely do not know if there is contradictions to the bible.
