All the evidence we have suggests that when we die, there is nothing. We just stop and our consciousness ceases forever. There is no sound reason to believe that I will spend an eternity in torture or that you and your children will have eternal life. Death is the permanent end to our existence.

Show them the truth. I would reconvert back to Christianity, if someone could show me this truth that should be consistent with what's observed and logic.

What I believe is based on the evidence of faith. If I had no faith, then the belief would be a blind belief.

I believe because I have faith, and the faith proves that what I believe is true.

Reality hit me a ton of bricks right on my psyche. I've told this story more than once on this forum but I will summarize: I was Catholic, started asking questions and things didn't add up with what the Bible says. After some years of pleading, begging, praying, no answer or anything came to calm my fears and doubts. After some fear and quite literally against my wishes, I had to admit to myself that I was losing faith, after a few more years, I called myself agnostic as a sort of 'on the fence' title. After a few more years of reading and learning, I found out I am really am an agnostic atheist who would love nothing more than to find out that I will live forever and see my dead relatives and whatnot. I have to admit that I am not one of those atheists who can honestly say that I am content or happy with the idea of oblivion after death. However, I cannot reasonably think otherwise.
