By destroying this system it was possible to make way for the current state of affairs where 60% of the Russian population are Christian, the living conditions of the poorest is far better and the people are far more free. The USSR in turn became a corrective to Western race based imperialism of the old European empires.

2) Maoist atheism destroyed an Old China that was inherently corrupt and deceived by ancient Chinese superstitions ,creating a spiritual vacuum into which the church has seen explosive growth. There are now more than 100 million Christians in China.

3) Zionist atheists were a factor in the reestablishment of the state of Israel and by the expulsion of the Palestinians allowed to become a viable state.

As much as I - as an atheist - would love to be of service, I think you are commiting a huge logical fallacy here.

Fundamentally, it is nothing but the conclusion: "I interprete a certain situation a positive (regardless of whether my interpretation is factually correct or not), so this must have been God's plan."

God's plan will be accomplished no matter if Christians are "soft" or not. This much is true. However, I am not sure if all of the above represent God's plans--we simply don't know. And there's plenty evidence from the Bible that God will use believers and non-believers alike to accomplish His plans, sure.

I think that God uses atheists regardless of the state of God's people. King Xerxes I (in the book of Esther) is a good example.

The down side is that while they do serve His purposes, they don't receive the benefits of voluntarily surrendering to Him.

Does god use anyone to achieve his plans? After all, he's god....so can't he simply make them happen?

But if we are with God in His love, we are not puppets . . . but alive in real love which makes us gentle and quiet in spirit so we are pleasing to God, and this is family love which has us caring and sharing as family with various other people . . . not only isolating ourselves in fake love with people we can use for the pleasures we prefer. And God's love makes us more and more alive to care tenderly for any and all people who refuse Jesus.

Meanwhile, ones who are the real puppets . . . love-dead . . . are ones who are being worked-in by "the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience" (in Ephesians 2:2). Well, we have what happened when Israel turned against God. In early scripture we see how God gave them over to enemy Gentile people. So, when Jews were corrupt, they got taken over by anti-God people. But that did not change their character the way they needed.

Also . . . if Jews now in Israel do not honor their Messiah Jesus, they are against God, now. So, being brought back to Israel is not safe and secure if they keep refusing God. Their own Torah says that if they do not obey God, many horrible things will come upon them. So, I do not assume their return is a real return, if they have not returned to the LORD and are obeying Him.

Therefore, we need to pray God's mercy to them and any and all of us. Any of us can get ourselves in major trouble much more than our selfish deeds might deserve; because sin is not fair. Satan's kingdom is not fair. And yes ungodly people can be used to deal with us if we refuse God and go against Him . . . even if we are His children > this is what happened to Solomon > 2 Samuel 7:14.

Check out the first chapter of Habakkuk. There, God tells him He is going to use the brutal Babylonians to discipline Israel. Habakkuk is astonished. As bad as the Israelites were, he figured they still were better than the Babylonians. But that is not how God operated. He said he first would use the Babylonians, and then He would punish them for their own sin.

To the natural mind, this is hard to assimilate. We have a simple moral grid and we want to see it satisfied. But God always goes to the root, and sometimes that offends our mental grid. God was dealing with Israel as they needed to be dealt with, and in due season He would catch the Babylonians in their own conceits.

Similarly, Jesus wept over Jerusalem, because it would not repent and receive Him. But as for the nations that would trample on the city, no one gets away with anything, when all is said and done.

We have a better covenant now, and we don't have to go through a dismal cycle of futility. But taking the higher road is not automatic. It is a choice we get to make.

How about the reverse? The best cure for Christianity is for one to simply read the Bible in its entirety without bias. As an atheist, I regularly use the Bible to further atheism.

Neither King Xerxes I nor the devil were atheists or even unbelievers. The devil certainly believes in god. King Xerxes I probably was a polytheist and accepted the existence of Jehovah, but considered him to be puny in comparison to his own gods.

There is a new reality in Russia and in many ways the church has displaced the Communist party in the new "military-ecclesiastical" system under Putin. Liberals like yourself will no doubt be displeased with the ways in which things like gay marriage and the extremist feminist agenda have been resisted. Individual rights are clearly subordinated to a more communal understanding. I know that a number of conservative evangelicals are also distrustful of this new relationship between state and church and its implications for religious freedom especially. But mainly the church is richer now cause the government is no longer stealing its stuff and because there has been investment in restoring the rich cultural and architectural infrastructure of Russian Orthodoxy.

The difference with the old Tsardom is that there is now a welfare state and a living wage for normal people. That is positive for 90% of the population.
