Curious, did you write this?

Sorry, but I see a lot of error in it. There are also a lot of misunderstandings of Calvinism.

It claims to be Lutheran, but Calvin agreed with Luther on many things pertaining to salvation. This writing is someone elses work. Modern Lutheran.

The notion of the Crux Theologorum ultimately comes straight out of the Lutheran Confessions by its affirmation of the right doctrine of election and the rejection of improper doctrines of election.

Also, no, I didn't write the article. That I found by googling, I thought it presented the Crux Theologorum fairly succinctly though.

Yes, Luther and Calvin agreed on much, but where they differed was no small matter.

The Solid Declaration devotes an entire Article on the Doctrine of Election.

Ok, so you believe there is some mystery in this that we cannot know - that God works in the non elect unto salvation, even though scripture teaches the opposite?

Is it something that is hidden, or something that many will not accept? Curious.

I believe that we can only work with what has been revealed to us.

Scripture has said that Christ died for all and God desires all to be saved. Thus we believe this. All means all.

Scripture has said that God has chosen His elect and justified them freely by His grace through the imputing of faith through the visible means of Word and Sacrament. Election means election.

We don't resolve or reconcile these. We embrace them both. Further, we don't seek the hidden knowledge of God or "sound the abyss of His will" as the Solid Declaration puts it. We receive and believe, the Lord has spoken.

Ok, then I have no debate with you as far as the op question goes. You answered it! I may not agree with it, but you did give your answer, and I can respect you for it.

Thanks, and please forgive my ignorance. I wasn't aware of these things. :)

I honestly believe in this situation, we will have to agree to disagree.

However, the points of the Crux Theologorum would make for good discussions.

May God richly bless you. :)
