  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

 It's not "our" faith that it's about, sis. It's WHO we have faith "in". Remember the man in the Bible, who said to Jesus, 'Lord i believe, help my unbelief'? That is my own prayer. I have no faith of my own. Faith is a gift from our Father, to us. He places it inside us.

TRUST Him, dear sis, no matter what.

I have, many times with my weary self, just crawled up into His lap like a little child would do, and rested my weary head on His chest and just rested there, silently. I think at those times He must've been reading my "heart", for i was too weary to even utter a prayer, at least with words.

I didn't have an earthly father who loved me. He was incapable of it. He didn't even love himself or anybody else.

He KNOWS your grief, heartache, and woundings. He LOVES you.

TRUST Him, against all odds, dear sis.Praying for you (((hug)))
I am autistic and take things literally. How do you sit in His lap and cry on His shoulder??? That's exactly what I yearn for. I feel like I'm not good enough and never will be. It breaks my heart because I love God so much and I can't even finish writing this reply. My heart is broken because all I want to do is make God happy.

... So, the only way God will love me is IF I obey everything perfectly? I am easily confused by some Scriptures. I'm in my Bible every morning, I listen to gospel music every day, I pray everyday and I show love to my boyfriend, my neighbors and even strangers in the store, and of course, my daughter. I write Scriptures so that I can be sure they are being grounded in my soul. And all I have really and truly wanted is for Him to hug me. All things are possible so isn't giving a hug possible?
How our earthly fathers (and mothers) treat us has a big influence on how we perceive God. Over time God works us away from that toward what he is really like, though.

God's nature is that of love. His love doesn't change based on anything you do (or can do). Because of that love (demonstrated through Jesus Christ's death), he accepts us as we are. We are already in perfect legal standing with him (i.e., "not guilty").

Even though you love your daughter, your relationship has changed radically over the years as she has grown. With the legal issues out of the way (because of Jesus' death), now we are concerned with our relationship with him. For a good relationship, we do the things that our the responsibility of a human-God relationship. He always does a great job doing his side of the human-God relationship. He doesn't need anything from us, and every one of his commands are for your good (or your family's, community's, or mankind's good).

We live by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7, 1984 NIV)

So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. (2 Corinthians 5:9, 1984 NIV)

Bible study, listening to gospel music, prayer are good things to do on the human side of the relationship, but you shouldn't do them so God accepts you more. There's nothing you can do to do that; he already has stamped his 100% Approved Forever seal on you.

While I believe you should continue to pray for him to hug you (yes, all things are possible) and know he answers every one of those prayers, you should also recognize that God gave us other people to fulfill some of our needs. What it seems to me that you really need is greater faith that he is your totally loving heavenly Father. Read Scripture and recognize that is exactly who he already is.

 Bless yer heart, it's not in the "physical" realm, but the "spiritual" realm, precious.

Kinda' hard to explain.

Maybe the best way to explain it is in the verse about our heavenly Father being the God of ALL COMFORT. And that He ministers and comforts us each according to our needs , based on His grace, at any given time.

I pray, dear heart, that you can sense our precious Father, hugging you and ministering to you, as only HE can. Father may it be so, in Jesus name, amen. (((hug)))

My faith is weak, I admit. My hopes aren't ever realized and so I just keep holding on to hope. It's especially difficult to trust when my own earthly father never ever hugged me or told me he loved me..EVER! Why should a child have to beg for a hug from their parent? Yes, God provides for me. I need and yearn to be loved unconditionally. Even when my daughter did something wrong, I didn't remove my love from her. It is impossible for anyone to be perfect in God's eyes. It is not impossible for us to try. The sin nature is a human trait and it won't be gone until we shed our earthly bodies. But as Jesus said, deny ourselves.

God doesn't expect you to be perfect, however He expects you to try not to sin.

Just as your child doesn't do everything perfectly, they spill their milk, they break things, they throw temper tantrums, but as a parent you correct your child when they need it, give them the things they need, show them how to grow up. The same way with God. We are told in the bible to praise God when things are going wrong, because that means God is working in our lives. Just as the antidote I gave about someone cheating me out of $100,000 in equity. I could blame God, I could bewail my misfortune but rather I should praise God that He has done something to teach me how to forgive people, what true forgiveness is.

Jesus said we should come to Him like little children, that is, we are born again, we should grow up in God, not the world. You are a new christian so there is a lot that God would have you learn. God does not expect you to be perfect but to try to listen to His word, to follow his teachings and lessons. When be become saved it is not the end, but just the beginning. The more I have learned about God and his teachings over the years the more I come to appreciate just all He gives me, that which I never recognized when I was a young believer.

At times I have had to come to God, God, I have no idea what to do in this situation. it is over my head, I am frustrated. Please take it from me, you deal with it however you see fit, I put it in your hands. And then I watch in amazement as God takes whatever it is and makes it disappear or work in my favor. Perhaps you should do this with your lack of vision, God, I don't see your hand in my life, I don't feel your love, please show me how to grow in your ways.

Unfortunately there is no quick answer, it is a walk with God that every saved believer does. Some come to understand God's ways more than others, but if we ask God anything, even how to see Him, he will give it to us. With man nothing is possible, with God all things are possible.

Thank you for taking the time to respond in greater depth. I need help. I can't do this walk of faith all by myself and my boyfriend who is also my earthly master, won't read Scriptures with me or pray with me. Colossians 3:22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything
I obey in everything even when he's not here. It's like I can only be Christian from 7am til 5:30pm when my boyfriend gets home from work. I love and respect my boyfriend, but he doesn't obey the Word of God and therefore, I'm unable to follow Jesus and it makes me feel like a bad sinner. I need prayers.

Firstly a massive internet hug to you,:hug::hug: sister, and I know it does not suffice for the affection you seek from that which you love greatly . Looking in from outside , I see confusion of law vs grace but you are here in the Spirit of courage in said confusion. What most seek is instant gratification that is rarely given like our devices give weather its the smart phone, tv, or this site, one seeks instant. So lets look at Romans 12:2 applied to "the mind" and nobody else's like parents, boyfriend and children. The mind takes time NIC (newbieinchrist) to transform because we refuse to throw all of mankinds taught ways to the wayside and as the child, start over, in the Word applied to self. I, like you, found confusion in the Word yet I unlike you, it broke my mind and I rebelled. Look at this and does it ring as a truth to you...

For the law is the lesser light, for it reveals that which is sin
Grace is the greater light, for it reveals that which is love
the law can teach us what sin is, but it cannot teach us what love is < 1 John 4:8

As stated about romans 12 2 would you agree that takes a season or two as a stand alone verse to apply it to our minds? Our minds are loaded in how to act to survive this world which means momma and daddy put things in our minds from the beginning and they are almost impossible to get rid of , agreed? (No hug, EVER!). Now lets focus on Hebrews 4:12 and how it is implemented to your individualism. Because you are unique NIC one must understand our darkness differ yet God knows this and went individual in Matthew 16:18. With that said , your perception and anothers perception will not align in 2 Timothy 3:16 in knowledge alone. Those two verses are similar yet they are miles apart for one verse speaks of mankind and entire religions have been built around it and the other is to self to build upon self with the Word, God & prayer. Just like brinny said in a different way. Thus, we use the Word to fill the physical lacking inside that "somebody" has placed there (your self included in your worth to your parents or to God) for we tend to believe people before God.

Hebrews 4:12 applied to you alone, and in so, there is no order of scripture used to fix selfs doubts. In closing , lets look upon perceptions of this verse Luke 14:26 . That's pretty strong wording is it not at face value? It took a long time of praying to understand the bible uses darkness to explain light. Hate , is level of love. When God is not first, then these, on the love bracket, it seems to me, your mind has no peace, correct?

Gods hug to you...~ Imagine in your mind the one you love the most on the cross and kill it in your mind for loving you unconditionally~ . As I am in tears, for I just did it, and they said , "Forgive them Father for they know not what they do".

In hopes this edifies ,

Sorry brother , your OP is a great question but it has brought a child in Spirit to the thread and one must tread lightly there.

For me, yes and no.

I am not sure what that answer "yes and no" means. I am not sure if that means God answers your prayers or not, or if only sometimes.

Part of my reason for asking this in the first place is to gauge if God answering prayers is an indication if someone's path is the correct one. That is, I follow the teachings of the bible, I try not to sin (I do not willfully sin) and I try to grow in Christ. And God answers my prayers. This would indicate, at least to me, that I'm on the right path. So, for this thread at least, I would like to know if God answers someone's prayers before they suggest not to worry about sinning.

That was addressed to FanthatSpark, not you. As Christians we all have insecurities. If we did not we could not grow in Christ. The second we think we have it all figured out is the second we stop learning. I respect your posts tremendously NewbieinChrist.

peace and love be yours,

The yes and no effect are prayers that extend out to others .The gift from God  to self, is Galatians 5:22-23, yet, others are in a trial for their teaching and in, Gods Will, will the prayer be answered. The paths are many to the lord and your way may not be mine yet we meet in the same outcome of letting God adhere, and no man, including this one.

One takes what is before them in these missives, threads and knowledge and puts it before God the only teacher for a truth that applies to them or not in their unique darkness. Thus, my how will not jive with yours in our individuality wherein the confusions of the how's are seen in all the denominations on the home page , correct? How, matters not to the Spirit, for the road of outcome will be the same as I am sure you have seen people ate up in the Spirit from all the how's that differentiate from your own  ^_^ . All one can do is submit their how and let it be tested in 1 John 4:1-2 by each individuals diverse darkness .

Hope this edifies.

Well I have been asking and begging Him to hug me as a Father hugs his child, but I haven't received that. I pray for Him to tell me He loves me, but I never hear it. Why? I know that God is love. How do i receive His love?
The matter of getting a hug from God is something that I have wanted to experience as well. And there have been times that I've been comforted by Him. So I thought that I'd share this with you.

The apostle John wrote in 1 John 3:1, "How great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called His children." A bestowal of love from a father to a child can be expressed in a hug.
So, after reading that verse, in prayer you could say along these lines, "Dear heavenly Father, thank you for hugging me!"

Concerning hearing Him speak to you, read aloud from Psalm 143:8 "Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning."
After reading that verse, in prayer you could say something like this, "Dear heavenly Father, thank You that You cause me to hear Your voice as You speak to my heart."

Such prayers can be prayed as often as you think about it.
