This seems to be a common misunderstanding of what we presume to be God's character (all-knowing, all-loving, etc.) and how it interacts with our free will.

Have you heard the "robot" explanation before? Only an infinite being can know the "right" choice at all times. Since we are finite, the only way God could eliminate our mistakes is to make us robots - machines that do exactly everything he says. IOW, it would take away our free will.

God would as He obviously does not want to be worship by those made or programed to worship Him.

I originally put this thread in the Philosophy section as I thought it was more of a philosophical question. I posed several questions in the thread itself as philosophical questions rather than purely doctrinal ones. I guess I was hoping for a deeper discussion other than "God works in mysterious ways". Also, I wanted to give non-believers a chance to debate in the thread too. Yes, I'm peeved the thread was moved, especially as I spent a good half hour writing my OP (along with a justification of why it should be in Philosophy rather than here).

I've also asked for it to be deleted. I'm not sure why it's still open.
