Does anyone on here observe Shrove Tuesday?

I'm just curious, I think we're more familiar with Mardis Gras than Shrove Tuesday but they're both pre-Ash Wednesday celebrations. It usually involves going to confession, locking in what your Lenten sacrifice will be and PANCAKES!

I'm curious if it's a tradition for anyone here...

My parish had a pancake dinner but I never go to it.

Never heard of it.
I think it might be more of an Anglo-Celtic tradition within Catholicism, so that might be why it's lesser known? I could be wrong.

Perhaps you've heard it called Fat Tuesday.
Yeah I think we’ve all heard that. I’ve noticed the king cakes and all that other stuff at the market they sell before Ash Wednesday.

Shrove Tuesday = Fat Tuesday!

We have fun wherever I am, on Fat Tuesday ... enjoying yummy goodies before the holy season of Lent officially begins the next day.

As children, we celebrated it ... for the goodies!
(And the fact that for many of us it was 'the last day' before fasting from such things began the next day, on Ash Wednesday.)

As an adult, the goodies are still good ... lol ...
but I also take advantage of the whole 'fun Fat Tuesday' idea to gently remind others, religious and not, of the season of Lent ...
