  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi, I am the only one I know of who has a dachshund (otherwise known as wiener dog) and does anyone have any funny dachshie stories? I am trying to convince a friend that dachshunds are the funniest dogs in the world and need some evidence for my claim.

Really? EVERYBODY I know has a dachshund! My grandma had one named Suzie who liked to sleep under the covers with me. She never moved the entire night. She was adorable! My other grandmother has one that has begging down to an artform. My friend has two of them, and her little brown one likes curling up in people's laps. But I couldn't stand my neighbors dachshunds, they were obnoxious. Chased my cats and ran into my yard barking at me all the time. But most dachshunds I've met have just been precious little doggies!
My German Shepherd, for whatever reason, had a vendetta against dachshunds. I don't know why, but it was only dachshunds. They seriously freaked her out.

My friend has one and it came after me and tried to bite me. That's the only dog that was even behaved this way towards me.

Like any dog it depends on the owner/training.

Yes, dachshunds are very sweet and cute, but as stubborn as a mule. They will do anything to protect their family so that means they can be a bit mean at times. Our dachshund has never bitten anyone, but she barks a lot. I would recommend getting a female dachshund because males can be tempermental at times!

I have a dachshund too. She's a 3-year-old female named Mia and boy is she spoiled! Yesterday I was taking my sons out to the car and as soon as I opened the gate she burst through, sped like a bullet to the minivan and dove into it.
Needless to say she wouldn't come out and I ended up taking her with us to my mom's. She can be very whiny but she's so friendly. She'll bark at strangers but is never aggressive. She puts up with my 2-year-old's antics and is very gentle.

Hi there! Alright, my mom has a dachshund! She is SO cute! Her ABSOLUTE favorite thing to do is EAT!! That is the HIGHLIGHT of her day! Although... she has about 3 passions in life!! Eating when she wakes up in the morning, going outside to PLAY WITH HER ROCK!! (I'll tell a bit more about that in a minute), and SLEEPING! It's like a life circle for her! Sleep, wake up, eat, play with rock, sleep some more, play with rock... go back to sleep... so on...

Anyway -- she LOVES to play with this ONE designated rock she picks out of the yard! She'll play with this rock until she loses it. You're probably wondering, "how does a dog play with a rock???" She'll pick up this rock (or should I say boulder - typically it's bigger than her head!) she'll lay it down on the ground, rip up all of the straw, grass, weeds, whatever there is to all sides of it, scootch it along the ground with her nose, and the rip up the surrounding area again! She barks at it, and continues to do this for HOURS!! (CRAZY DOG, I KNOW!)

My brother recently got a dachshund also -- and my mom has taught his dog to play with a rock just like her dachshund does! It's SO cute!!!

Anyway -- that is my story! :D Hope you enjoyed it!!! Oh yea, one last thing -- She snores also! She's so sweet though! I love her!
