  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

***New McNaughton Painting***
Separation of Church and State, by Jon McNaughton

Once a year, the President of the United States makes a speech to a joint session of Congress, reporting the condition of the nation and outlines the priorities of his administration. It is called, “The State of the Union Address."

I envisioned Jesus speaking to this joint session where all the leaders of our country are gathered. He looks at them from the pulpit; He pauses, and then begins to address the assembly.

He reminds them of the covenant which was made with the Founders of our Nation that He would protect and bless us if we would remember Him; and then Jesus opens the Holy Bible to Psalms 33: 12, and reads the verse:

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD.”

At this moment the Chamber erupts into shouts of anger and disgust, as the body of the joint session turns into a hostile mob - reminiscent of the mob that shouted out to Pilate, “Crucify him!”

Jesus, with a countenance of gentle peace, although saddened by the rejection of his offer, looks across the assembly at the angry mob. He turns and begins to exit the pulpit. The large American flag rips from top to bottom, like the veil of the temple ripped as He hung on the cross and said, “It is finished!”

A woman, unable to bear His glance holds her face in shame. Words of mockery, angry shouts and venomous threats fill the hall.

Above the torn flag, engraved in the marble stone of the Congressional Chamber of Congress are the words, “In God We Trust.” Oh, the irony! A shaft of light from the Courts of Heaven shines upon the word “God” as a reminder of whom they have rejected. O, America – why have you abandoned the rock from whence you were hewn!

As Jesus exits this unholy chamber he turns to gaze at you, the viewer of this painting, and asks the question, “What will YOU do now?”

The painting is meant to be a symbol of our government’s abandonment of God and His Covenant; for surely, He has not abandoned us, but we have abandoned Him.

Any artists here, who actually paint?
Hello. I draw and paint by traditional methods. I also paint digitally and dabble in computer animation. I uploaded a digital painting in the "Media" category called "Starlight" and I'll slowly add more to the album. I say slowly because I've only been a member here maybe 20 minutes lol

Okay, I guess it's my turn to show something here.
I don't feel confident on any of my drawing or paintings....but it's only fair :p

This is an elf that I never manage to finish.

One week later, still no reply. . . Maybe there are no painters here.
How about anybody who actually draws with a pencil, or charcoal?

I don't paint but could, if I ever felt motivated enough. (I've artistic skill that I've not really used since college; it's hard to say why, exactly.)

In college, I did take a watercolor class. Hated the medium but got some good results, nonetheless. (I minored in art, so there were other art classes in there, but watercolor was the only one involving "serious" paint work.)

I feel better about having greater control over the medium, so pencil, charcoal, pastels, etc., are more to my liking.

I do pencil portraits, drawings etc. I also do digital portraits (which often are much harder for me). Here's a sample of one of my pencil portraits of a friend.

Hello Soma Seer.
Thanks for your response. Hoping to see some of your artworks here.
It has been a long long time since I've done any watercolours. Tricky medium at first, but after much practice it is surprising how much fun and frustrating it can get. Frustrating in the sense that the medium dries fairly quickly. After a watercolour painting, my shirt and mouth has paint streaks over them from quickly getting rid of excess paint.

Sorry for not responding to the above posts in a timely fashion.
Though I started the thread I do not see myself as owning it. But I do feel obliged to acknowledge those who posted.
Now and again I disappear into my hermitage. Away from town, mobiles and Internet. When I do go I go for several months.
Before I go again, I will post a few paintings I've done of long ago (up to 25 years ago). Yes I am getting on in age.
Prior to 25 years ago I lost everything in a house fire. Since then, artwork has been a struggle incentive-wise.

Hi there! New here and just exploring the forum for the first time.
I haven't really painted anything, but dabbled in a couple of mediums. I cannot say I'm an artist at all, but I like all kinds of art and want to try quite a few, but find myself more admiring than actually experimenting. I love watching mixed media related demonstration videos, but one of my most favorite things to do right now is gelatin printing. Tons of fun anyone can do! :)

I draw & paint, I'm also into conspiracy facts so I painted this, it's in oils 100 x 81 cm, my wife hates it but even though I did it a few years ago it seems even more like the world we live in to me now.

I didn't feel fit to paint the face of Christ tbh, so it kind of stopped there, but at the same time Christ is becoming faceless in todays world.

The buildings are all real buildings, and the patches on the uniforms are deliberate too, although too small to see at this size, tri-lateral commission etc
