CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Perhaps I'm a bit late to the party, but I work as an artist.
It's been a good while since I've touched any real media - due to the nature of my work I now more or less work exclusively digitally with digital painting, concept art, UI, graphics, video, 3D etc.

Hi all! It's been a l-o-n-g time since I painted but I sure loved it. I've painted mainly in acrylics but my real love is oils (as long as you don't mind waiting an eternity for everything to dry! lol)...they just blend so beautifully. I've also dabbled with watercolours. I started off painting using others line drawings and instructions for guidance and gradually worked up to doing my own original material. And, then I quit painting. Hmmm.
I've got inspiration pics to get started, the will to do it, but not quite enough nerve. LOL

If it's the original drawing that is putting you off could I suggest you try taking photos of things you want to paint & playing around with a crop feature, you can get cheap affordable photo projectors (art shops & the internet) & then project the image onto a canvas or board & draw it on with a pencil.
Avoids a lot of mess & graphite smudges on the canvas, saves time & leaves you free to just get on with the painting.
BTW you can now get water based oil paints & fast drying oil paints (aka alkaloid or something) that dry in a day (don't mix them with the standard type tho !

I haven't painted much really, just some basic watercolor for practice, I do some sketches from time to time, but most of my work now is usually digitally done. I would love to get into doing more painting and drawing by hand though!

Hi! I love art, like to draw and paint. I use pencil, sometimes just plain graphite with many shades of gray, or colored pencils, because when I draw detail, like people, and i want to color it, it would be hard getting details with a paintbrush.
I like fairy tales and fashion design, angels, fairies, Jesus, Holiday stuff, birds, flowers, some landscapes, butterflies, cute animals, people, children looking cute, innocent and sweet, sometimes with puppies or kitties. I'm trying to make some greeting cards. I'm painting chickens, a rooster, hen and chicks with acrylics for my mom, but my mom has seen it and given me advice with it. I can't hide paintings I work on as gifts for my parents, I live with them.
