Does anybody else prefer calling today Resurrection Day instead of Easter?

I definitely prefer Resurrection Day and to keep it spiritual. I never was a big easter bunny person, and my children figured it out quick - and were fine with that.

We did the whole Easter bunny thing, my kid really got a kick out of it, but I can help but wonder if we should be doing that. I did sit him down and explain Good Friday and today mean, what it meant and what Jesus did. He is six he took it pretty well.

I am with you though I just don't feel good about the whole Easter thing.

I do because of what easter really means.

don't get me wrong i feel great about what Jesus did, but the name Easter comes from a pagan holiday, and the whole Easter bunny, I wonder if this is not an attack on Christ with the Easter bunny and Santa caus.

Been calling it Easter for 53 years now and see no reason to call it anything different. Calling it "Resurrection Day" is a recent trend.

IMO, it doesn't matter what you call it. What's most important is that we know Jesus rose from the grave and "it is finished!".

Easter does not come from a pagan holiday.

Also, Easter do not mean about hats neither.

I think Resurrection Day or Resurrection Sunday is more fitting for what this day is for us Christians. Easter reminds me more of what it is for the secular world.

Amen! I did have to catch myself a few times though ;)

Where do you think the word "Easter" comes from then? You seem to claim to be educated on the subject by being so direct with your response. :)

I think I'm beginning to see the creation of another meaningless and ridiculous reason for condemnation that Christians will start using against each other.

No condemnation, just education and maybe a bit of suggested humility. :)

The name of the holiday is not Easter for the rest of Christianity. So, the name is meaningless as to the origins of it.

And yet you call it Easter in Post #9?
