The bible says drunkeness is a sin... but the way I see it is as this, with so many other wonderful things God has given us to drink, why drink wine?
I admit that I enjoy a good glass of cabernet as well. For one, because it tastes better than all the other stuff![]()
Only if one is a wine-o?Do you feel that it is sinful to drink wine?
What I like with pizza sometimes. though I try not to eat that with my toes. The Bible's pretty clear that it's not a sin. Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding as his first miracle, after they had already finished off all the wine the host had, so it's clear that Jesus did not oppose drinking, even "partying" to an extent. But it is also clear that we should not drink in excess. The trick is finding that balance. As a general rule of thumb, don't break the law and don't drink so much that it affects your behavior.
i have to agree with UHW. beacuse the bible says obay the laws of the land. to break those laws is a sin. so as long as you stay in those lines its fine. i personally wont drink because of the fact i know 2 many people who are addictied
Unfortunately, sometimes the law of the land is terribly in error. I mean look at what happened with the prohibition thing. These were actually Christians that led the cause (all types), based upon their own interpretations of scriptures. Thats why I have those verses in my notes, it just confuses me how such things are overlooked and a total unbalanced view emerges. And when they did manage to make alcohol illegal, all it did was create crime lords in our country, some of which empires still continue or were built upon. I suppose thats why its good to check with scripture before taking up some cause, because the end result can cause problems for generations to come if the cause conflicts with the bible from the start.
No, but if someone believes it is a sin, it is wrong for them to do so, and I certainly would never drink it in front of them (not that I ever drink it at all). The sinful act for those who drink it would be to drink it to excess and drunkenness.
To add something: Romans chapter 14 offers guidance on matters like drinking wine and how it relates to our relationship with God and our brothers and sisters in Christ.
