CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No I don't. I guess Im just pessimistic. I think everybody will find somebody they can fall in love with, but I wouldnt call that their soul mate. If you think about it, just about everybody finds somebody who lives within 20 miles, and even then only meets far far less than one percent of the people within that radius. Even if they have 80% similar interest, there is probably somebody in Colorado or someplace far away that they would be even happier with.

Nope I do not believe in there just being "the one" or "soulmate".. It is all about timing, God's timing.

I believe we have soul mates, whether it's just one or a whole bunch I'm not sure?
Personally I wouldn't be happy being single without a soul mate my whole life. Love is incompleteness in absence, i.e. I would feel lonely.

I don't believe in soul mates. I believe in reality, hard work, and love being a choice, a gift, and a lack of fairy-tale bliss (at least some of the time 
)

That can be a loaded question in my book.
I think that it's both yes and no. Kind of hard for me to explain.
Not everyone is/will be blessed with the gift of singlness (as Paul puts it). Very few actually do become blessed with this gift in actuality.
I honestly believe that we as humans rely more on "feelings" than anything else when it comes to relationships.
I know that God has a perfect Help-mate for me, that will fill in the gaps that I have in my life. And I will be able to fill in those areas in her life also that are missing. So in a way you could call that having a "soul mate". God's word says that He who finds himself a wife has found a good thing (the Tenorvoice paraphrase).
Before the begining of time God had a plan for my life and for every life that He created. And in that plan He has set forth a Help-Mate for those that He said would not be complete untill they unite with them.
Now in every heart there is a God sized hole that only He can fill. But there is also sometimes a hole that only this Help-mate can fill also.

But as for me being Single for the rest of my life....If that is God's plan then I will be all for it, but I honestly think that I do not have the gift of Singleness.

No, I don't think there is only one limited soulmate out there for every person on earth. There are just some people that you are more compatible with than others. And if you are really weird like me, it takes you longer to find those people and them to find you.

nope i can't say i do believe in soulmates, as the traditional understanding of the word goes.
you could go off and marry the first person you see walking down the street, nothings stopping you and the marriage vows would be just as sticking and legit as if you had been dating the guy for six years prior. So there's no backing out if you decide that perhaps he/she wasn't 'the one' after all. you've made your choice to be commited to that person.
but if we're determined to follow God's will and leading for our lives and that will does include marriage at some point then He probably does have one person in mind. And i do believe God brings people together. But thats not to say that we're somehow at the mercy of fate or destiny to fall in love with the person God wants us to be with and its bound to stay that way forever and ever. Love is a choice and a commitment that you make to that person and something you work at like has already been said.

according to that verse, love is not an easy thing and its not something you just fall into without any choice of your own but it is an amazing thing if you're prepared to commit to it and work on it my soulmate is going to be the guy i've committed to loving and spending the rest of my life with.

I don't believe in soulmates in a dreamy-romantic sort of way. I suppose if you want to define soulmates as two people that the Lord brings together, then sure. But I think there is enough choice and will in love relationships for the soulmate idea to seem like wishful thinking to me.
As for being single the rest of my life, it's a strong possibility, and I'd be okay with it. While I would like to have that special someone, my ministry is more important to me, and following that path may preclude a husband and family. We'll see -- some days I want to find Mr. Macrina, and some days I just want to be on my own. I guess I'll have to leave that one up to God, and be okay with whatever choice He makes.

I'd like to think there are soul mates, but it's rarely been my experience to witness. And NO, i'm tired of being single, but I will not override His will, all in His timing.

I believe we have someone God has picked out for us. Someone who is perfect for us since before we were even born. I could not live as a single person for the rest of my life. I enjoy it, but its not something that is for me. For some people it is in Gods plan for them to be single, but for me I know that is not the case. Everyone has there own opinions.

*God has a perfect plan for all of us, whether it is revealed to us or not.* I can't say that I believe in soulmates. And yes...I'd be more then happy to be single all my life. I'm a focused and driven sort of a person. I'd be happy having a career and a wonderful realtionship with God. (But God would come first)! I would never want to hold back someone I loved from doing something they wanted...and wouldn't want anyone holding me back either.

No, I don't believe in soul mates for everybody. There a couple of people that I know that I would say maybe to, but over all I don't believe in soul mates. But for me personally, I believe that one day I will get married and that God has not called me to be single.

Yep. I think some people find them through God or good luck and the others have to make them through hard work.
And the bible says that it isn't good for man to be alone. He designed us to be in partnership with a wife or husband. The only ones that wouldn't apply to is those with the gift of singleness. (which ain't me
). So no.
