  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you think...

A source of contention between my coworker and her husband is animals. She is an animal lover and her husband was raised that animals were nothing more than animals and should be treated as such. They currently have no pets but they attempted to raise a kitten earlier this year. It put a lot of stress on the marriage. The sad thing was that she had previously had two cats that were outside 'sheltered' but somehow coyotes killed them and the husband brought the kitten home to make her feel better. However, the kitten was wilder than they expected and he thought it could be 'trained' like a dog. They ended up giving the kitten to a friend.

Nothing against the husband but based on some things she's said about the in-laws...his family is pretty psycho. Of course, all that matters is that he and she love each other and get along but basically the 'psychos' treat their respective pets not with the same care, concern and respect that my coworker would give them. It bothers her a lot sometimes.

My cats talk back to me. My older cat used to 'meow' after I sneezed as if he was 'blessing' me. He wouldn't do it to anyone else who happened to sneeze in his presence...just me. I tried to 'fake' sneeze a few times to see if he'd do it and he wouldn't. It's like he knows the difference....creepy but cool. :)

I couldn't even date someone like that, much less marry them.

I hear ya there. These two are definitely one of the biggest cases of 'opposites attract' that I've ever seen. (outside of my own parents, who divorced when I was 8!)

The other coworker in my department has said the same thing. She couldn't put up with a man like my other coworker's husband.

My ex was mean a few times to my oldest cat (we got him when we were together) and it would make me fume big time~ I personally think he was jealous of the cat...of course, the cat was more affectionate and caring than him. He should have taken lessons from it! haha ^_^
