• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you think that your pets will go to Heaven?

I believe pets go to heaven for no other reason than it brings me comfort when I lose one of my babies. The dog I grew up with is now 14 and has cancer, so I know she may not have long, but I believe she'll be so much happier when she gets to heaven. I think her and Penny (Mom's other dog) will walk up to Jesus and say, "Alright, where's this chocolate stuff these humans have been hiding from us all these years!" :)
God bless,
Dawn

Hi. When I read your post I just had to make the following comment and please don't take it personally for I can completely understand wanting comfort when a loved one dies whether it be human or a cherished animal (pet.) To say you believe pets go to heaven "for no other reason than it brings me comfort" is not very healthy, i don't think. Now I'm not claiming to be correct in everything I write and my opinion can be swayed if it's off somehow but compare your statement to this: "I believe my friend's death was just an accident and not suicide for no other reason than it brings me comfort" when in reality it was suicide (that's fictional but it could be true for someone.) It would be nice to think a lot of things to bring comfort but it's important to always think what's true or false. Is it true that pets go to heaven? I can't believe so for the sake of comfort, but I can hope so. There are many Christians who believe yes and many who will tell you no. Who's right? I don't know. I mean how can an animal accept Christ as Lord and Savior? There's a world of stuff we don't know about animals... maybe they can!? Then again why would animals not go to heaven? What have they done wrong? Okay, some kill humans but when that happens it's not like a human killing a human, animals kill because of instinct. Even humans who kill but confess their sins and accept God into their lives can be allowed in Heaven. Saddam Hussein can actually get to Heaven! Wow!! If those types of people can then why shouldn't beloved pets!? Animals as pets more often than not bring people comfort by being a loyal and faithful friend. Why would they be subjected to spend eternity either in hell or just cease to exist?! Why would God not want us to reconnect with our beloved pets in Heaven?

P.S. Good news! After typing the above I went back and skimmed through this whole thread and found some interesting posts. Unfortunately I don't have time to copy and paste and quote a whole lot but I can point out to you Message #'s 75-80 and many after that. Anywhere people start citing scripture pay attention because apparantly the Bible does indeed have answers! WOOHOOO!!! I think I'm gonna do myself a favor and study up on this later today!

Also, take note that most people, including myself, don't believe animals even need to be saved by accepting Jesus as humans do - because it was only humans who fell! :)

It seems clear there will be animals in heaven. I personally do not find enough evidence in scripture believe that animals have Eternal souls (as opposed to "spirits") and do not expect to meet my personal pets or any deceased Earth animals in Heaven. That does not mean that it is impossible, because I'm not convinced scripture specifically precludes that. But I am not concerned, because while I love my animals terribly I love God so much more and expect that all the pleasure I might need will be fully realize when I worship in his presence.

As far as bugs, pests, and "ferocious beasts" etc. I would expect them to be there too. However, originally God looked at all he had created and declared it good. Also, there was no death before the fall. Therefore I expect that in Heaven animals (and humans) will not kill/eat eachother. And that while there may be mosquitos, they will not be sucking our blood and leaving us with itchy bites, the wasps won't sting and the spiders won't bite. Also, I don't see any reason why there won't be dinosaurs.

When I said I believe animals go to heaven for no other reason than it brings me comfort, that's the only case where I use that statement to support my beliefs. I don't believe that it is acceptable in any other circumstance. Just thought I'd tell you. :)

I'm certain they'll be in Heaven with us. Why would God deprive us of one of our greatest desires in Heaven? Also, note the verse about the lion and the lamb. I'm not sure which verse it is though.

Did anyone see that pet psychic that animal planet had awhile ago? She made john Edwards look like Jeremiah or something. I thought that show was hilarious though.
Yeah I was laughing real hard, most of what I saw from was just plain impossible or was easily seen in the behavior of the animal. I suppose I really only saw a few but when looking at the dogs and hearing the owners I could have come up with the same things, or blown some of her claims out of the water, all through knowledge of behavior and health symptoms. And I am not an animal psychic. Some the things she said I'm sure were said only because that's what the owner wanted to hear.

I also saw the one with the rooster that supposedly had his friend, another rooster, killed and the owners found him with his head missing. Her conclusion was that coyotes had gotten it. Number one coyotes do not do all that for just the head, they want the whole thing the only animal I've known to only take the head has been pet dogs with behavior problems. number two roosters rarely allow each other to be in close proximity, the roosters may have grown up together and developed toleration for each other but I highly doubt they were friends.

I also noticed that she seemed to attribute some behaviors with so called grieving. The only animals I have seen evidence of what you could call greiving from is elephants, whales, and related porpoises. Dogs from my experience grieve not for the dead, only for the living, if at all.

I hope and pray that my dogs will be in Heaven when they die. What do you think? Does anyone here watch that Movie Crossing Over with John Edwards? He says that pets do go to heaven... Wouldn't that be nice?

Eccl 3:19-20 For the fate of humans and the fate of animals is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and humans have no advantage over the animals;for all is vanity. All go to one place:...

Psalm 104:12
Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; they sing among the branches.

Job 12:7
"But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you;

I can't imagine any existence without them.

What about this verse
NKJV Eccl 3:21 said:
Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?
And Job 12:7 is refering to living animals, not whether or not they have spirits or where they are destined to go.

And Psalm 104 in different versions say sky not heaven, but in versions that use the word heaven don't seem to be using it in context of the Heaven in which the Father dwells but heavens as the in the higher atmosphere, or in the sky.

Though don't get me wrong I want this to be true as much as anybody on this thread, its just I'm a stickler for context.

Romans 8:21 seem really hopefull

That is saying that all die, not that Animals go to heaven, Jesus did not die for Animals, only man was made in God's image.

"Psalm 104:12
Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; they sing among the branches."

That is a different 'heavens' as in the sky.

"Job 12:7
"But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you;"

See above

I am sorry, I do not see how animals would go to heaven. Animals are not made in the image of God, to say animals go to heaven is to put animals on the same level as humans, they are not. We were put over them. Also when you are in heaven surronded by the glory of God, the last thing on your mind will be 'where's fluffy?'.

Thank you for digging out these scriptural references DD. I dearly miss my old Dalmation "Blaze", and these words are most comforting.

I like to thinnk i will see my pets again in Heaven, i dont think there is any prood an animal has a soul, but, my cats are so affectionate, and needy, they comfort me and meow cry when i am upset or crying, there has to be some feeling in there, and feeling, i believe comes with having a soul.

as for john edwards...

My strongest spiritual gift is descerning spirits, its kinda like an internal alarm for evil/demonic things. John edwards, i feel very strongly, thinks he is talking to the dead, but is really talking to demons. I believe the same about ghosts, demoins masqurading as departed persons. and why? because it undermines what the bible says about life after you die.

Even satan can appear as an angel of light. he decieves, and leads you astray

Based on......?

Besides, you won't care anyway once you see the Lord and run to Him in excitement. Spending time with Jesus and the prophets of old will take up all of your time. :amen:
Eternity is a very looooong time. Perhaps Jesus and his prophets will want an occasional break from us. That will give us time to play with our pets. :)
