Do you think it's reasonable for my husband to do his own ironing

I never iron my husband's things. He irons them or goes to work with wrinkled shirts. If our things need the wrinkles to come out I take them off the hanger and throw them into the dryer...works every time. I just have other things to do besides ironing....the internet being one of those things.

It's when you throw a wrinkled piece of clothing and a damp washcloth in the dryer on the "de-wrinkle" setting.

lol! I have an old timey dryer and it doesn't have a de-wrinkle setting, but I do still throw them back in and let them fluff. I hate ironing.

I also refuse to do the laundry of my 13 year old daughter, and 12 year old son.

But teens should be doing their own laundry! My eldest started at 13, my middle boy at 12, and my youngest child when he was 10. They followed each other's example. There is no reason why teenagers can't operate a washer and dryer, amongst other equipment. After all, here in the States, they take driver's ed at 15, and can drive a car at 16. If they can't handle the simplest equipment, why should they be trusted with machinery that can kill or maim others?

My kids aren't teens yet, but my older two have been responsible for putting their laundry away for over a year now. Next step will be learning how to properly fold it for the older one (that's gonna happen when he turns 10 this year) and helping to flip it from washer to dryer.

Exactly, and if teens should be doing their own laundry then so should adult males.

I have always worked outside the home, and for most of our marriage have made more money though worked slightly less hours than my husband. I have ironed all the clothes since day 1 nearly sixteen years ago and now I am stuck with it. I recently broke my right elbow I have been ironing my clothes (with some difficulty and lack of precision since then) BUT my husband has finally not been expecting me to iron his clothes (he is capable of ironing them and does iron them occasionally when I am not available). He did offer to carry the laundry baskets up and down the two flight of stairs as has done for me in the past when I have had surgery but I declined as it is something I can easily do with one arm and wide hips. We are a pretty modern couple in other areas but as far as chores goes we are set in our way, we are very independent do not ask for help unless it is absolutely necessary. I know all this sounds bad but it has to do with the way we were raised and our personalties. It would be nice if he were more helpful but our marriage has worked pretty well this way so far. My advice to any engaged couple is do not do any thing in the beginning of marriage that you don't want to do forever, also whatever side of the bed you pick the first night is yours forever.
