Hi,

Do you think it is sinful or immodest for women to wear heels? Heels alter the appearance of a woman making her appear taller than she is. They also can attract attention which is not very modest. I do not have the intention to appear taller than I am (I actually like my height), but some shoes are really cute. Which brings another issue, if they are cute won't they attract attention which would be immodest? It seems it is normal in this society to wear heels for women, and a lot of shoes for women come with some kind of a heel. At the same time I do not want to be sinful in wearing something that would be considered deceitful (shoes that would make me appear taller than I am) or too cute in that it would attract attention thus being immodest.

What are your thoughts about this?

Thanks.

One can nitpick and make anything seem sinful--- for example
what about owning a car?
If you can't buy a car out right, why go in debt for one--
isn't that sinful because it keeps you from getting your
proper exercise and it creates a hardship if you are facing a
monthly car payment for something you can't pay for in full?

If a woman owns a car doesn't that signal she is being provocative?
I mean, there is a backseat and --- can you see where this is going?

What about wearing pretty clothes, that would draw attention to her
body and it's not right to cause a man to lust-- nor should she wear
pretty clothing because those who can't afford pretty clothes will feel bad--
do you see where this is going?

You can take anything, twist it to suit one's own personal view(s) and make it
"sinful".

We can over-do anything, if you want to wear shoes that have heels then do so.
If wearing said shoes makes you appear taller, there's no sin in that.
How would appearing taller make it a sin to wear shoes with heels?
It doesn't because nobody is being fooled into believing you are actually
4 inches taller-- they KNOW you are wearing high heels.

Attracting attention in high heel shoes-- so? Attention can be good or bad
but that's in the eye of the beholder for the most part.
I wore glow in the dark tennis shoes and they got a lot of attention lol!

If I put on a sweater or blouse, I would get attention-- why? because
I have a large breasts...they grew that way naturally.
Doesn't matter if my blouse is buttoned up to my neck-- my "girls"
attract attention.

I'm not going to wear a robe to hide my God given assets but I do
make sure I'm not putting them on "display" by wearing low-necklined blouses
or see through clothing. I own many scarves and I use them to compliment
my blouses.

Lol if you're not walking around naked or purposely trying to entice men to have sex with you then wear whatever you want. God isn't looking at your outer flesh only the devil and people do. God is ALWAYS looking at the heart. As a guy trust me you could wear a full baggy body suit and you will STILL attract attention from men. Where not that hard to impress lol.

What's in your heart as you put those shoes on?

If you're thinking "this will get me a man, he'll be turned on by my sexy heels and then I'll go home with him and see how things go" then you need to rethink what you're doing.

If you're thinking "I really like these shoes, they look good on me and they are comfortable" then go for it.

You could endlessly analyse how someone else might react to what you're wearing. Ultimately if a man is going to lust after you then you could wear a full burqa and he'd still wonder what was concealed underneath it.

It's hardly dishonest to wear heels - they might make you look a little taller but it's not as if it's something you're hiding away. It's also hard to see very many people taking more of an interest in you than they would if you put a different pair of shoes on. (Yes, I know there are a few odd people catered for by equally odd web sites in dark corners of the internet but you can't live your life based on what the occasional oddball might think of something or you'd never do anything)

Sinful or immodest? No. What are you wearing these shoes with, anyway? [I have more of an issue with skirts so short they must be held down when walking or sitting, and leggings (i.e. pantyhose without feet) being worn as trousers with short tops.] Uncomfortable and likely to cause foot problems before you're even thirty, not to mention the possibility of falling and injuring yourself? Definitely. I cannot emphasize the ridiculousness of seeing girls in stiletto heels, who then must hold on to others for support when walking. Give it up, ladies. They do make sensible heels and shoes that are also cute.

Whether or not it is wrong, don't make a brother stumble.

:)Lol, that made me laugh.

OP, I dont believe its a sin to wear heels. But jeez, some heels look sinful. Those ones that are 10inches long, they have a name for it I cant even mention it here. They look horrid.

I am tall so I don't wear much heels anyway. At least not more than 3-4inches at most. But God really looks at the heart not the outside. Its your intentions that counts when you wear those things.

Someone who wears a super mini skirt and 6 or 7 inches heels combined with a revealing top is sure looking to cause some brothers to stumble.

We have to always dress in a way that glorifies God, and not the world

What if you don't wear shoes and they have a foot fetish? What then?!

The truth is, no matter what you do, you are accountable for YOU, not everyone else. And people are going to get offended no matter what you do. Focus on pleasing Christ, not being a servant of men (a people pleaser).

Everthing depends on your motive. If I wear something that I feel sexy in or look hot in I know someone else might look at me like that. I would take it off. Plus if you attract a man by looking like Kim Kardashian you know that he's going to be turning his head for the next Kim to walk by. Dress yourself to feel good not to feel hot/sexy. Heels are not sinful only what comes from your heart.

Simple answer. Don't wear anything that will cause you to stumble.
I think really high heeled shoes come in that category. That is why podiatrists are rich.

Try ballet flats. They look cute as well, I don't think looking cute is a sin. Otherwise babies are in big trouble!
