You may be underestimating the crazy things that can happen from one single gene change. This is all still mysterious to us. Or it doesn't follow common sense that everything that defines what we are is in our DNA.

I actually trust the human record more than speculation about what things "mean" or indicate to "mean", drawing conclusions based on theory or the study of artifacts which have varying indications of age...my experience is greater than theory, or doctrines. God is capable or communicating with man...proof enough for me.

Right, but modern humans can not be found in the same fossil layer.....

Also, is that how God punishes people for sinning? By making them more apelike? Isn't eternal hellfire enough? How come we never see God turning people more apelike these days? Why aren't there a bunch of H. erectus walking around? Surely there are plenty of sinners deserving of God's wrath.

Whoever wrote that obviously forgot that the Lord requires you to believe every word and line of "Scripture" (Most of which hadn't been written yet!), and all manner of nonsense about talking snakes, original sin, virgin birth, vicarious atonement, et cetera. He also requires you to show up for the sabbatical magic show, thus reassuring your neighbors that you are still orthodox. Oh! And don't forget to bring money. And whatever you do, don't you dare disagree with AV1611VET, or you will be required to "take a hike".

But if Christianity, at its foundation is only Micah 6:8 then then Micah 6:8 is all that the Lord requires. And if Christianity requires more, then it requires more than the Lord requires, or Micah 6:8 got it wrong.

So, if I base my behavior on Micah 6:8, I can accept evolution, and I don't have to worry about scripture, doctrine or the teachings of any Jewish rabbi.
