At a wedding ceremony a pastor quoted Genesis 1:28 and blessed the marriage couple to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. There was beautiful blessing of course.

But one thing the pastor forget is that verse was commanded only to Adam and Eve when this earth was still an empty land without 8 billions people competing for lives.

Nowadays christian families are competing with the world for
Food
Jobs
Land and Shelter
Education
Health facilities and medicines
Transport and fuel
Public service, Insurance, banking etc.
Clothing
Recreation and entertainment etc.

It says one bread for a man is death for another. And one job for a man means jobless for another. One job for a christian means jobless for another.

Look at awfully crowded hospitals during covid pandemic, people are placed even at door entrance and parking yard. Many rejected and have self isolation at home which killed many. One occupied bed at hospital means one death for another. Christian patients are taking part in this hard competition for health and Meds.

How do you replenish the crowded earth theres no free land for people no more that the competition for land has Made price very high that many lives in cages and christians are taking part to create this situation

Over here christian families are sending their children to the best expensive schools and universities to secure best future for their children. Every morning a Lux sedan takes their children to prominent schools but the poor at slum are unable to compete.

Here the Rich christian families receive health treatment at expensive hospitals but the poor unable to compete will make do at horrible queue for a whole day at cheap government hospitals where people been pingpong from clinics and come at 3am to register for next day queue.

Competition for housing is more dreadful as the land remains the same but population rise by Millions each year. rich christian families defeated the poor who choose to live in slum areas.

As population keep multiplying and competition for transport erupted the price of gas keep rising making food price increased. The poor live harder and harder.

We christians are taking part in this endless competition for our families.

Of course God does not ban people to get married.

Do you still want to multiply and replenish this earth which is not an empty land of six thousand years ago. ?

I don't see where God abolished the institution of marriage. Most people desire to marry and have a family. If the command only was for Adam and Eve, the human race would have ended a long time ago. I still plan on having kids, Lord willing.

The bible says “a good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children” and “if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever” also “if any believing woman has relatives who are widows, let her care for them.”

God expects families to look after one another. That’s our primary ministry when we’re married. We’re not supposed to foist them on the government, society or the church. Home is the safety net.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.

There’s nothing wrong with having children. But its irresponsible to have more than you can afford and expect others to pick up the slack and get upset when they don’t. Helping the poor doesn’t nullify the other. We must honor our commitments.

The only way to escape a rut is to stop doing the things that put and keep you there. If you’re poor you don’t need a house full of kids or expensive habits and addictions. You’re shooting yourself in the foot.

You have to cultivate the fruit self-control. You have to reign yourself in and deny your impulses and destructive behavior. That’s how you get out of the pit.

If you don't want kids, you can always adopt or become a monastic.

The command is still in effect, and was requested to Noah, and restated to the disciples.

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Yes thanks Hammster,

Just saying there were only 8 people when Noah generation multiplied.
Nobody was selling land, all free.

And Jesus send disciples to evangelize nations not to multiply them.

Im not however banning people to get married and have children.

Just asking.

The nations have not been made disciples. We still have work to do. And one way is to have lots of kids.

This. If Christian people do not wish to have children that path is always available.
Saint Paul wrote about it in 1 Corinthians 7:8.

That had to do with the events unfolding in the first century.

we adopted a child from another country

surprisingly, only 5% of Christians have adopted a child

I'm surprised in my neighborhood that Christian families still birth 3 or 4 kids
why not adopt a child instead of bringing more & more children into the world

I’m surprised you only have one child. I’m surprised that more Christians aren’t like me with 3 biological and 2 adopted kids. I’m the gold standard. ;)

husband & I didn't want to be outnumbered, lol

it takes two of us to get teen to all activities
I don't know anyone more active!
Then you shouldn’t lecture on how many kids people should have/adopt. My wife is disabled, and still manages to get things done.

I advocate for kids to be adopted
NO ONE tells me what I should/should not do
it's a crime only 5% of Christians have adopted

good for your wife!

with fibromyalgia & constant pain & no energy:
I get NOTHING done! clean house....nope
do drive teen when my turn

so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

All societies have inhabitants in various positions. Some are married and some aren’t. Some have families others don’t. Some own land others rent. And so on.

The omission of home ownership doesn’t prevent you from subduing the land or working towards its betterment. God never said we’ll have everything our neighbor possesses.
