adopted parents have to go through SO much scrutiny with questions by social workers, finger printing, child abuse clearance, home inspection, meet financials, etc

You have never borne a child through your womb and have no conception of the sacrifice those who can make by adopting. They don’t need to. They can reproduce.

When you can’t adoption and surrogacy are the only options. When you can and opt to do otherwise the beauty of your decision resounds.

The OP is not about adoption. It’s about reproduction. This isn’t a debate. And comparing the two makes no sense. Do what works for you.

My Priest is encouraging me to join the dating pool, telling me there are women in the congregation that would benefit from me doing so.

I can't agree with him. I see how often I fail to avoid the simplest of sins, and I'm getting grey hair now.

I often feel that I would be a curse upon a godly woman and her family. I do love kids, and teaching. But the fear of failure hangs over me so ominously.

I dated quite a bit when I was agnostic and a friend of the world; I was never very good at it. Longest relationship was 3 years, and that was because we were more roommates than romantic.

The idea of beginning a relationship with a woman makes me recoil. I tend to end conversations with women in the church my age and single as soon as I possibly can. A relationship means giving up my comfort, perhaps I should. Then again, to what end?

a local Pastor in our area promoted adoption
over 100 church families adopted
they did not "need" to adopt; they answered the call to adopt

the OP is concerned about using up resources by adding more children to planet
adopting children already on planet helps saves resources
so yes adoption is a solution to OP's question

God must have really had a bad plan, then.

I'm just saying having kids for the sole purpose of building up God's army is not a good idea in today's society. Maybe if the kids were raised in a bubble like in the past before TV and internet could influence them that might be a good idea. But with today's world, unfortunately there's no guarantee the kids will even remain a true Christian. With this homosexuality movement, and transgender movement and trying to teach that junk in schools and teaching evolution etc. 2 kids is all I can handle to try to raise them right and with the truth of God's Word. No way could I keep up with 10. LOL

You’re still saying that God’s plan isn’t that good, and you’ve given reasons. We are to fill the earth. We are to do that by raising families, and evangelizing (including evangelizing our children). Raising two or ten isn’t relevant. What if you raise two that turn out to be hellions, but if you raised 10, 8 would serve the Lord?

Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate.
— Psalm 127:3-5

This. If Christian people do not wish to have children that path is always available.
Saint Paul wrote about it in 1 Corinthians 7:8.

or marry and have a childfree marriage. Paul was writing at a time when sterilisation wasn't available and contraceptive methods were primitive and not reliable

Unfortunately, the world seems to be influencing children more and more these days.

The greatest influence on a child is their home. Everything that goes well or awry begins there. My daughter didn’t struggle with the issues you mentioned. Because I gave her boundaries and impressed my standard.

When you lay down the law there must be consequences. You must be willing to enforce them and I was. Now that she’s an adult preservation is the goal. There are alliances I’ll never sanction. Friend or otherwise.

I don’t care if people disagree. They’re free to wreck their children. But they won’t ruin mine. They can take that woke worldly nonsense somewhere else.

That goes for unbelievers and Christians too. Because some of them are just as bad. If you want to build something great you have to protect it. You don’t let everybody in.

If parents were more vigilant they’d be better off. If you won’t mold them another will. Now she’s repeating the things I said to her growing up because she understands the wisdom behind it.

It isn’t hard to raise a child if you’re willing to do the work. But a lot of parents are trifling. They put in little effort and expect a miracle.

At a wedding ceremony a pastor quoted Genesis 1:28 and blessed the marriage couple to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. There was beautiful blessing of course.

But one thing the pastor forget is that verse was commanded only to Adam and Eve when this earth was still an empty land without 8 billions people competing for lives.

Nowadays christian families are competing with the world for
Food
Jobs
Land and Shelter
Education
Health facilities and medicines
Transport and fuel
Public service, Insurance, banking etc.
Clothing
Recreation and entertainment etc.

It says one bread for a man is death for another. And one job for a man means jobless for another. One job for a christian means jobless for another.

Look at awfully crowded hospitals during covid pandemic, people are placed even at door entrance and parking yard. Many rejected and have self isolation at home which killed many. One occupied bed at hospital means one death for another. Christian patients are taking part in this hard competition for health and Meds.

How do you replenish the crowded earth theres no free land for people no more that the competition for land has Made price very high that many lives in cages and christians are taking part to create this situation

Over here christian families are sending their children to the best expensive schools and universities to secure best future for their children. Every morning a Lux sedan takes their children to prominent schools but the poor at slum are unable to compete.

Here the Rich christian families receive health treatment at expensive hospitals but the poor unable to compete will make do at horrible queue for a whole day at cheap government hospitals where people been pingpong from clinics and come at 3am to register for next day queue.

Competition for housing is more dreadful as the land remains the same but population rise by Millions each year. rich christian families defeated the poor who choose to live in slum areas.

As population keep multiplying and competition for transport erupted the price of gas keep rising making food price increased. The poor live harder and harder.

We christians are taking part in this endless competition for our families.

Of course God does not ban people to get married.

Do you still want to multiply and replenish this earth which is not an empty land of six thousand years ago. ?
God gave the commandment twice and for the same reason. To fill the Earth b/c there were so few people in it.
He gave us common sense and self-control so there's no need to have 4+ children.
Econ 101 will easily show the problems in too much demand and supply cannot keep up with it.
