There has been a major anouncement that the rules of this forum will change. The changes are toward an more "open format" with "elected mods". This means athiest and non Christians can post in any forum they wish and elect whom ever they want in those forums to be Mods. You may well end up with a athiest mod for the lutherian forum.

So the question is do you think this is a good thing for the forum? Will you stay when this takes effect or will you leave?

I don't see how those who are regulars in TCL will elect a moderator that they don't know. I don't see that happening anytime soon. What happens a year from now is anyone's guess. When that comes, I'll decide then what I will do.

While much of the general CF forum will be destroyed, I see this as an opportunity for TCL to take charge of itself. If we are truly able to set our own rules and elect our own moderators, this could be seen as an improvement here.

But... as some here will tell you... I have been wrong about things before.

My thoughts exactly. We have some of the best minds here on all of CF and we are strong because of our faith in God, true biblical faith, not imitation or man made. We will survive, especially if we are allowed to govern ourslves.

I pray we can minister to folks who are seeking, here at TCL. There are strong Christians here, no doubt of that. I hope we really are allowed to govern ourselves, but I do wonder if that will really be the case. I'm staying for now. After last night, I'm surprised I'm even saying that. :sorry:

I hope our conservative fellowship area is allowed to remain. It's a source of fun, help, and comfort to us all. :)

Well y'know since we know each other here fairly well, I don't think that we will have a problem electing one of our own and even if an athiest dropped by or was the MOD they would certainly find our forum a challenge to their beliefs. So I say bring 'em on.

No! I can't bring myself to believe that you have ever been, or will ever be wrong about anything here. You are my hero. No one can hold a candle to you (unless of course they like big explosions). ;)

I'm not entirely sure on all of the new rules being presented, but as for the one new change being presented in the first post, I don't like the idea. There are reasons why TCL has been a blessing to me, even though I have only been here for a month, and I don't want to compromise anything that it has done for me. That's my 2 cents.

This place will essentially become a mad house. Can you imagine no restraint on conservatives bashing liberals and vice versa with no safe subgroup to go. I will stay because there is a great lutheran community, but dealing with the LCMS's problems on top of the CF forums. It's a little much :(. But still bring it on.

I have PMs from non-Lutherans asking where we might be going. What are our options?

Well, we could always just turn our computers off and witness to the real world. There's a lot of it out there. I've seen parts of it recently.

Believe me, I've been wrong.

Kirke, please forgive me for not participating in your poll. The questions are slanted too sharply. Just because I'm staying doesn't mean I agree with the changes or think they're a good idea. Frankly, right now I haven't had the time to check out just what compremises the changes. Anyone here can tell you that I'm not one to accept change for change's sake. It's one reason I'm Lutheran and specifically LCMS Lutheran.

As to leaving the forum? That all depends upon the result of these changes. I for one preferred the safety of our sub-sub-forum. With the new rules, that speciality may be lost.

Will I leave the forum? My tendency to answer stupidity and absurdity (such as is found in one of our sister Lutheran denominations that won't be named as I don't want to be kicked off... yet) with acidic ascerbity just may be what makes up my mind for me.

Be forewarned! If anyone reading this thread ventures into this sub forum and decides to promote anything other than sound, conservative, doctrine... I'll let you have it with both barrels!:p No, that isn't a threat. Just a statement of fact.

Believe me, I've been wrong.
There are other forums we can go to, in which liberalism isnt going to be allowed or will be greatly controled so conservatives will have some peace...

Conservative Christian Forums
Which was set up by a size able group of Mods who left this forum after the rule changes were anounce, sighting much of the general concerns and the way the mods were treated in the change.
http://www.conservative-christian-forums.com/YaBB.pl

and

Daily Crosses
Which seem to be a break off forum that has more clearly a Christian support focus.
http://www.freepowerboards.com/dailycrosses/

As for sticting it out to argue/discuss things with liberals and non Christians whom may seek this section of the forum to hurass those Lutherans in it... I have been through such things before and there simply is no getting through to them. While you may defend your faith and the word of God, talking to them about it is about as productive as talking to a wall. They also do chain or group postings to effectively 'shout down' those they disagree with.

The only way around this that I can think of is if we set the rules early and fast and make them such that the basic beliefs of the Lutheran faith are not allowed to be challenged and that a non-lutheran can not be a mod here. Then we must remain united against them should they seek to shout down those with in the forum.

No kidding? We could turn our computers off?

How do we do that? I haven't turned my computer off since 1990. Is there a button on the computer to do that?

And you say that there are real people to witness to. They've mentioned something like that here at CTSFW. I just didn't believe them at first.

HMMM I'll have to talk to my fieldwork pastor about this.

wow..I can't believe how negatively people are reacting to this..I mean, coming from a WELS church, people take change so positively..;)

But seriously, perhaps some kind of discussion could have taken place instead of one person coming up and saying "here is how things are" without the consensus of his mods etc..
