  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Someone mentioned the smell of freshly popped popcorn in an earlier post. I can remember the bigger stores in our town having that smell. Kresge's Dept store was famous for that. Used to go in there to see the little turtles in the pet department downstairs.

I can recall the parking meters being in front of the stores so parallel parking was always necessary...no pull in until the separate parking lots came into being. Therefore the parking test to get your driver license. :help: I din't do well on that the first time.

Boy...the things we took for granted in life during those days...I can remember those little turtles too...LOL

I remember the "Mars Bars" they were great. One of my favorites was the "Zero Bar". Another by the same company was "Milk Shake Bar".
I remember them. Seems like the Zero bars had a white coating and that they were cheaper :D Tasted good though :yum:

I haven't posted in "like forever" , but I visit ever 2 or 3 nights- just not bothering to sign in very often.

I loved Zero bars and Mallow Cups. Does anyone remember when mixing koolaid with sugar was a "cool" treat? - somewhat like the koolaid straws of today!

P.S. Can anyone tell me how to edit the number/age? by my CF character - I would love to be just 36 again - but I flew by that a long time ago!

Looks like you are 36 to me. Congratulations but I think you are under arrest for posting here...sorry ^_^ :clap:

Yes the koolaid was great and so were mallow cups. used to save the coupons inside. If you got a certain amount you could send them in for free mallow cups.

How about sugar daddy candy? They were pretty good as well.

Hey everyone. I am finally home. This is a trip which will surely enable me to share memories for a very long time. The birds alone are worth mentioning and, the Grand Canyon, to name just two things. Today my lap top works only on battery. Working on that because it keeps running out.

Looks like we keep rolling along on this good thread thanks to Larry and others!!

Happy Easter...all of you who "remember when." +

birdfriend..;)

Hey, Gar, great to see ya! I remember last year you joined about the same time as I did. It's okay, Larry, she really is a golden eagle!! :clap: I will vouch for her! I don't have the foggiest how to edit the number/age thing. I thought that was written in concrete. ^_^ Maybe you can find some help in CF support, Gar. birdie :angel:

I know I go way far back but does anyone remember the 'HoneyBunch' series, HoneyBunch at the Farm, HoneyBunch at the SeaShore and so many others! I loved those books but this was when I was about 8 or 9 yrs old.
I don't remember HoneyBunch at the Farm but I do remember Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.

pilgrimgal, it seems to me that the Barbies started in the sixties. My nieces played with them and the nieces are both over fifty now. When I was a kid in the forties and fifties we didn't have Barbies, only baby dolls which cried and wet their diapers and paper dolls, but Shirley Temple dolls were before my day. ;)

Remember all the crazy rhymes we learned when we were kids and even with our own kids? Some were so ridiculously funny, like this:
I had a little brother
His name was Tiny Tim
I put him in the bathtub
To see if he could swim
He drank up all the water
Ate up all the soap
He couldnt eat the bathtub
It would have stuck in his throat
I took him to the doctor
The doctor called the nurse
Then they called the lady
With the alligator purse.

I'm sure this isnt accurate! If you remember it correctly or any other funny such rhymes please post them!

There was an Old Lady song
There was an old lady who swallowed a fly
I don't know why she swallowed a fly - perhaps she'll die!
There was an old lady who swallowed a spider,
That wriggled and wiggled and tiggled inside her;
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;
I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!
There was an old lady who swallowed a bird;
How absurd to swallow a bird.
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;
I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!
There was an old lady who swallowed a cat;
Fancy that to swallow a cat!
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;
I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!
There was an old lady that swallowed a dog;
What a hog, to swallow a dog;
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat,
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;
I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!
There was an old lady who swallowed a cow,
I don't know how she swallowed a cow;
She swallowed the cow to catch the dog,
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat,
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;
I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!
There was an old lady who swallowed a horse...
She's dead, of course!
