I used to love the kids game show "Starcade"
As I love video games of the 80's(No not Nintendos nor Playstations, sorry if I offend any fans).
And that is where I got my first crush on game show host Geoff Edwards.
Atari 2600 rulz!!! And Dig Dug was the bomb in the arcade.

Arcade games that I liked:

Asteroids
Tempest
Defender

Anyone remeber that big 8 player racing game. The screen was in the middle and you stood 2 people per side and raced. I loved that one.
Tempest...aww yeah. ;)

I remember watching Bugs Bunny one afternoon when this scrolled across the bottom of the screen : "Elvis Presley found dead at his home in Memphis".
That's a very interesting memory! I actually lived in Memphis at the time and it was quite a big deal. Probably only second to Kennedy. My mom still has the Memphis newspaper from that day wrapped up. I looked at it a couple years ago for the first time. Brought back a lot of memories! Especially looking at all those old ads...

Funny about the Elvis thing. Our next door neighbor must have been Elvis' number 1 fan or something. The year that he died she got a birthday gift from her husband (I was at their house that day). As she opened the box and unwrapped the tissue we saw that it was a foot tall statue of Elvis with a wind-up music thingy in it. She started bawling and kept saying "Oh Robert! It's so BEAUTIFUL!" I about gagged..... think I was about 8 years old, and just did not understand that behavior at all.

Ultraman was one of my favorites. Seeing those intricate models of Tokyo get destroyed EVERY DAY after school was a pleasure.

I laughed so hard at one episode where the guy had to run from a banquet to turn into Ultraman, instead of holding his transmitter aloft, he held up a spoon from the dinner. LOL.

There are actually several different Ultraman shows in japan, but I still like the one we saw the best. Giant Robo (Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot) is another classic.

Robotech (the americanized version of three different anime TV shows) was my first real introduction to anime. I was hooked. People actually died, the plot continued from show to show, the combat was so unlike GI Joe and other faire, where people opted to shoot branches over their enemy's heads instead of actually firing at them.

I learned later how much Harmony Gold had hacked the original three stories to make them fit one tale, but it worked for me at the time.

I remember Fridays. And Morgan Freeman and Rita Morano were on Electric Company. I remember taking the empty glass bottles of RC back to the store for 10 cents a bottle adn getting penny candy.

***, the electric company is something that I have long forgotten about. And I definately remember taking soft drink bottles back to the stores and turning them in to get candy.
Wow, that really brings back memories.

My cousin Cheryl and I would walk along the sides of the roads looking for soft drink bottles when ever we would go to our grand parents house in the country, then we would go the the little country store right down the road from my grandparents house and we would buy as much candy as we could and take it back and share it with our bro and sis.
Sadly my cousin, who was only a year older than me, passed away Oct 14, 2003. My parents had custody of her so we were just like sisters. I really miss her.
Thanks for helping me to remember the good times!
