Well people, the bright side is Jesus chose to save us and pay the price. We deserve hell but because of Jesus we have another option. AMEN. Question though, I am almost positive being saved does not mean automatically to heaven. What assures us that we are one our way to heaven.
I believe in hell ;D
Kind of in a hurry, as I have an appointment in a bit.....but, I'm starting to question the common Christian belief of "eternal hell". I know if you look back at the original Hebrew/Greek texts, they have different words/meanings for "hell". There is one passage where it says Sodom and Gomorrah are 'eternally' burning (from my understanding, it was not a figurative speech...but as in the city itself).
I definitely don't understand the topic, or even the Bible enough to have my say be considered as anywhere close to the correct interpretation.
But the thing is, sometimes we try to find the correct interpretation, we lose sight of what really is the central focus of the Bible - Jesus and His gift of salvation.
Isn't hell eternal separation from God?
Thats all very nice but its a bit hard to focus on the gift of salvation when your friends and family are being threatened with eternal damnation by the same God who is offering salvation.
Isn't God omniscient?
=)
yeah, i get you =p.
whether or not there is literal burning in hell, i think hell will be a place of eternal suffering. if we are to believe that God still is with us in this world, then some good must be here as well. Hell lacks any good in it. It is complete and utter separation from God. Imagine living here on Earth without any good in it....what would you call your life then? If there was no love, if you couldn't find joy in even the simplest of things.
What would you call it?
Probably a living hell.
