  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do you love much?

Behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment.
And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anionted them with ointment.

And Jesus turned to the woman and said to Simon, See thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
My head with oil, thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are MANY, are forgiven; for she loved MUCH:
But to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

This is a great example of forgiveness and love. The more that we love one another, the more will be forgiven to us- by the Father.
For Jesus commanded it:

A new commandment, I give unto you: that ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Wildfire, I love the story of this woman. I was raised in a "salvation thru works" kind of church, and I thought I was forever lost because I knew in my heart I could never be "good enough". Then I learned(at a different church), that Jesus LOVED me, and my salvation was a GIFT from Him. That is when I fell in love with Jesus, and He forgave my MANY sins.

It is all about love.:)

Oh yes! Finding out that salvation is a free gift from a loving God, not a demanding, sanctimonious God, was the best thing that ever happened to me! We must have gone to the same church as children, Auntie!

Lambslove,

I attended two different churches as a child, "Church of Christ" and "First Christian Church Disciples of Christ".

The COC was a small independent church, and they taught me to fear God and that no one could ever know if they were saved or not. They even took it a step further: to say you are saved is blasphemy as only God can know that.

Thank God for the Baptist Church, where I learned about the Love of God.
