  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know lots of us have started college this week, so I'm just wondering how its going for everyone. How are classes going? Do you enjoy them? What classes do you have? I hope everyone is having a good first week, and good luck to those who are starting next week.

I have 4 classes this semester, Monday-Macroeconomics, which so far is very interesting, I'm the only person in the class who isn't a management major, so that's kinda neat. Tuesday-Psychology of the Family, this is really fun so far. Tomorrow I have contemporary sociology, and I also have an independant study, Educational psychology, which is going well so far. I was a little nervous because I had to drive to downtown minneapolis for my first two classes, but I made it there and back alright, got a little lost in the parking garage, but found my car eventually.

I enjoy all my classes so far. I got all my Gen Ed requirements done so now I'm just working on what I need to finish up.

I'm taking Biology and Chem classes and labs and a class in Math Theory (for graduate students and Math majors, I have it for a minor)... seems very interesting.

I don't hate my job and I have Sunday off so I can go to church/mass. I for one, am very happy with things as they are now :)

My classes are alright so far. Don't know if we're ever gonna get anything done in English 287. So far, after three classes, Prof. Schwartz has only just gotten through discussing our one page syllabus!! I have trig which is fine, And Bio-Medical Ethics which is proving to be a very interesting class. Prof. get's a little testy when I site the Bible for my every reasoning but it'll be okay! ;) Then I have a Chem 112 class. Chemistry is my weakest subject and it takes up so much of our free time, but if I work really hard I know I can pull off a b. My last class is Intro to Public Adminstration. It's a politics class. We're going to have a ton of guest speakers like the mayor and city administrator, people like that.

I pray that all of ya'll may have a wonderful and successful year!

Jill- UGH!!!! Economics! I took Micro and it was the hardest class for me so far. (the fact that the professor had a SERIOUS accent and spoke at whisper volume couldn't have helped much either)

I LOVE my courses this semester though. I have- Life of Christ, Early Christian History/Literature, World Civ to 1500, U.S History since 1865, and American Government. Ahhhhh, social science- I just LOVE it!! :p

And I just can't get over the blessing it is to be able to study Christ and the Bible in school...AND GET CREDIT FOR IT!!! :pink:

I'm not starting classes till next Tuesday, but I can go through my classes and how I expect to like them :p

I've got macroecon, which I expect to go a little better than micro for me; intro to managerial accounting... accounting is the devil; business statistics I, which I can't wait to start because I haven't had a math class in a while; German conversation, where I basically show up and speak German for 40 minutes twice a week; marching band, which is mondo-fun; and the History of Russia since 1815(online), which I expect to be very interesting.

Rock on, all

Cool, sounds like everyone has some fun classes this semester, Pope, we'll have to help each other out with macroecon...actually you'll probably understand it better than I will, I have never taken an econ class in highschool or college. I took stats last spring, and got a B in it (pretty good considering it was an online course and I basically taught myself.) I had contemporary sociology tonight, which was ok. It is going to be a little redundant for the first few weeks because we have to go through all the terminology and methodology, which we really shouldn't have to because its a 300 level course, and people should have learned this stuff in intro to soc, but I guess its alright to review.

*Multicultural Education- VERY interesting... good, but hard.

Although I've only had 2 of my 4 classes, I voted yes. So far I've had College Composition and Algebra and they have been pretty good so far. I'm sure over time they will become harder, but that's the way things go in college.

On Wednesday I start my 2 other classes which are Human Relations and Medical Termonology. I am really looking forward to these two classes the most. They pertain to my major (Medical Radiology) and I find them both very interesting.

Now that I've gone to all of my classes, I can say overall, yes. They all seem interesting in one way or another. Out of my four classes, I only think 1 is boring. Another class is kind of wierd for me because my ex is in it also ( we planned taking it together last year). It's ok, since we sit on different sides of the room :).

I have Biology, English(both of which my boyfriend is in:)), Psychology and Sociology, oh and of course my Biology lab(my boyfriend is also in that). I like all of my courses so far...but I'm sure in a few months I will be complaining about one or two of them. I just started my first year on Wednesday.
