  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you like to pray?

I enjoy it too.

I tend to ramble....talk toooooooo much. I like to talk. I think God likes to listen to me, but I know that I need to do much better in listening to Him.

I believe there are two parts to praying talking and listening.

The best thing about being a Christian is the fact that I can talk to God in prayer. I can thank him. I can praise him. I can pray for other people.

As a non-believer who was addicted to alcohol, drugs and the occult I spent most of my prayer time asking Him for help getting out of trouble. I only thought about Him when I needed something.

I am glad that I do not have to live that way anymore.

God Bless,
Roberta

I used to HATE to pray, lol, if that is imaginable...especially in group situations...

I'd get so flustered that my prayers outloud weren't even prayers, they were me speaking outloud to impress the people around me in an attempt to seem prayer-like *shudder* God is good to have brought me so far...

I could spend HOURS in prayer...I love just being in the presence of God all by myself - knowing that He's listening intently to what I'm saying and giving me gentle feedback at the same time. :)

I talk a lot, too......listening can be kind of tough when I'm especially emotional about something. I've been working on that.
Sometimes I'll spend an entire day talking to God...I still go about my business and everything, but I keep up an almost constant stream of conversation with Him....it's pretty relaxing.

To me prayer is just having a conversation with God.....

Yes, there are those times when you have a prayer session (when you spend time in prayer by yourself or with others), but I really just like talking to God when I'm at work or when I'm walking along the road. To me that's prayer......

When I'm in a "prayer session" situation, I tend to wait until I believe the Holy Spirit moves me to pray about something - even if I'm not sure how. Until then, my prayer runs along the lines of "I'm here God, what do we talk about".

What "does my head in" is those sessions when your praying with others and as soon as you "start", they're off..... Praying about all sorts of things with, in most cases, no time for a bit of silence or time to listen......arrrgh!! I also find that they tend to be list prayers for Uncle Jack's broken arm or Auntie Mary's dog.

I much prefer to wait on the LORD, and enter into a conversation with Him, rather than telling Him all your woes. It would be nice sometimes if people stopped and prayed - "How are you today, God?" You might be surprised at some of the answers you get..... like, "Well, my children aren't obeying me today, and that hurts"

A thought for you - just examine how many prayers you make asking God for things rather than blessing Him or praising Him. It's seeking the hand of God rather than seeking His face, and I know God wants us to seek His face rather than His hand. To seek him out for who He is and not just what He can do for us. It's all about relationship - loving someone for who they are rather than what you can get out of them. Even when we pray "Lord, move our heart to witness to others" - it's still a prayer asking God to do something.... and I'm as guilty as anyone.....

Bless you.....

I like to pray and just ta6lk to Him. It's so comforting and. . . and so great. I talk to Him so MANY times, though. Not on my knees, but when I'm playing games, doing work, walking the dog, etc.

I asked God today how He was, and what I got back was, "I'm good." Well, God, that's just GRAND! :D:) Very grand :)

I love praying!

There's only one time when I really don't like it as much....when I'm in my car driving in really bad conditions, and I'm praying for my safety. It's not so much I don't want to pray for my safety. I just don't really like praying when I'm really scared. But when I get home, I am so thankful so then I'm sooooo happy!

There was a time in which i thought that prayer was a bore. But then God showed me that I should talk to Him as I would talk to a friend and tell Him everything like friend will to another without inhibitions.

I thank God He made a way to communicate with us.

One time we had to spread out at church camp and pray, and i just put my head in my hands and talked. People were staring at me like crazy, but I feel like it's more effective for me that way. We should turn to God as a friend, anyways, I just like to take it to another level. Very glad someone else does it, fieldmouse3! :)
