I have been divorced 15 years and I have honestly been very discouraged with being single. I miss marriage and all that it entails. I am going to school and keeping busy, but I want someone to share life with who cares about me and I about him.

I was curious how many people that frequent this forum are single by choice, or just enjoy being single.

What's the story??

I might only be 19, however, after the past relationship I have had, I'n starting to feel I should just stay single after all. I'm losing desire to get married one day, and definitly losing desire to have children.

I am single now by choice, married twice and thrown out of both.. I remain Single for the rest of my life now.... At almost 45 (well this Jan. 2005) I will 45 and too old now.......

I am an only child, I can be happy and Not lonely by myself...

I've been single for 20 years, and I prefer it. I miss the physical benefits, but after several relationships, I realized I'd rather be alone than with someone who didn't care about whether or not I was happy.

I have been alone for 21 Years now and can honestly say that there is more benefits in being on your own than in a relationship with too many expectations and demands!

I actually prefer my own company, rather than listening to idle, non sensical-chatter after a couple of beers!!!!! Have you noticed how clever beer can make a man??? LMARO!!

I have been single now for 13 years, I really enjoy it, however I am not alone I have had custody of my 2 children the entire time. I lost my son 10 months ago to a tragic accident at the age of 15 so that has been tuff. but I have enjoyed being single, and have no desire to remarry. I found out long ago, sometimes you can be the most lonely when you are with somebody. and that I am responsible for my own happiness, so I therefore don't need to count on anyone to make me happy, happiness is in my own court.

Do I enjoy being single.....no, not really. I miss having a man to come home to and speak with on a daily basis, to tell my thoughts to, to help me when I have had a bad day, or even a good day for that matter. I miss having a man around who could fix something if it needs fixing. I miss having a man to go to sleep with and wake up with in the morning (a husband just to clarify here.)

Most of all I miss having a man to talk to about the Lord, which is something I never had, but I miss it anyway, because I can imagine what that would be like.

Am I okay, yes. Am I going to live, yes. Is my life full in the Lord, yes. Do I pray His will be a good one for me with a husband in the future, definitely. Do I have a full life in the meantime, yes. However, it could be so much better.

Being single is okay as long as you're faithful enough. It get's difficult for many women to deal with it, but I find that all you have to do is keep yourself busy enough that you're not worried about your own urges. Taking care of my children is my main concern, not satisfying myself, and when I feel tempted to satisfy my urges I simply forget about them.

I was not single by choice, but I was single because I lost a husband 13 years ago. During the second year of my "widowhood," I dated a man who as I look back upon it, was not for me and my relationship with Jesus. I gotten back dating two years ago and though maybe I found the one, but I don't want to dwell in the past, but to make a long story short, this guy was not for "me."

But you know, right now I am in a place that I am content and happy--sure I do want to love and date again, and I am praying that God will show me to the right person who accepts me as I am--btw, I do pray for my future husband, wherever he is, but also, we should not be worried about our cirmustances around us, but we need to not be anxious for nothing as the word says.

Yep! People will look at my age and say "but - she's so old!!" No way! I don't feel any older than I did 30 years ago when I was rearing kids and dragging out the budget. In fact, I reckon I might have felt older then than I do now!

Yup, still single. Good points bad points. Hard to say if I like it or not since I have not been married before. I think I'd anticipate most of all with being married is encouragement. That often seems to go a long way for me. I don't have an emotionally supportive Christian family to be there for me when I am drained. Thing I like best about being lone wolf atm is that I can have that time I need to sort through thoughts while not being on anyones schedule. I can take off on my motorcycle and ride all day or walk a trail in the mountains, but sometimes having someone there with me would be nice too.

I am single but yes and no by choice, I no longer could stay in a relationship of abuse. Its tuff at times being single not having anyone to share moments with but on the other side its good to know that I have God to keep me company I can tell him anything he never lets me down. I have good relationships with my children and grandchildren they keep me smiling and I have formed many friendships. When I am feeling down I call on the Lord to give me comfort.

Pretty much the same views here. I have only been divorced for 1.5 years, but I miss being married to a woman that I can share my life with.
