But being perfect isn't mandatory (or possible)

possible:

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Hebrews 10:14, For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

1 John 5:18, We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

1 John 3:8-9, He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 John 2:17, 1 John 3:6, And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever....Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

mandatory:

Matthew 13:41-42, The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity: And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 13:49-50, So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 7:23, And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 5:29-30, And if thy right eye causeth thee to sin, pluck it out and cast it from thee: for it is profitable that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand causeth thee to sin, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

The last of these passages is of course hyperbole; or exaggeration to make a point: Jesus is not saying to literally pluck out your eye or cut off your hand; he is telling us to deal with sin using drastic measures: if the most important thing in the world to you is causing you to sin, it is better for you to put that in the garbage than for you to continue to sin because of it and end up being cast into hell. This goes to show that sin will put a man in hell. It must be dealt with at the Cross. 1 John 1:7 says, But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

The sad thing is, why do most in the church avoid them? It is because they've not been taught them from the pulpit, then grow up, become pastors, and do the same. They've believed the lie, and the truth is called "impossible."

what is impossible for man is possible with God.
it is impossible to save ourselves,,but God does it and he doesnt set us free then leave us prisoners to sin.We do that by our own will .

but the churched system is old religioius cracking unpliable wineskin .it is a system that can no longer contain Gods ways .
The rabbit hole is very deep with corruption and yes i will go into it,but a new thread...

free means free.
let not sin therefore have Dominion.
you are still slave then you cant stop your master having dominion.
but if we are in christ sin is no longer a master so we Can
choose to Not let it rule us.
No one's suggesting otherwise
to say dont tell people your free from sin it might upset them is the same as saying "please only tickle my ears and tell e only what i want to hear, not all the truth.
Well, and no one is saying that at all.
HERE's what was actually said
I agree we should strive against sin. But to claim you are without sin and have not sinned since the day you were saved really hurts a lot of people who then begin to doubt their own salvation because of your testimony. Young believers may even give up thinking that there is no hope.

Those who believe they are Christians, but have no power over sin, as yet, are still in the process of being drawn by the Holy Spirit, as in "no one comes to the Father, except the Spirit draw him." Unfortunately, close is not close enough.
That Paul, he believed he was a Christian.

For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.
bFor I do not do the good I want,

but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.

If that were true, then how is it that the Holy Spirit brings such individuals back again unto repentance? You have to square your theology with reality.

Oh my. Don't you know the danger of taking verses out of context. That whole passage Romans 7:14-23 is about those UNDER the law. Read the verse before it, verse 13. Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.

Read Romans 7:7-25 all the way through chapter 8:1-10. THAT IS THE CONTEXT Paul is showing the difference between Jews under the law, and us after Jesus filled us with the Spirit.

It is amazing that most pastors take it out of context too! I know my old pastor did, even after I showed him! He also believed 1 John 1:8 was about Christians. That verse is taken out of context from verse 9. It takes a lot of patience to unbrainwash some pastors to teach the clear truth as it is written.

i agree with 1stcentury.....
and go further .using this text utterly outside what he is saying and the point he is on his way to making ... is a bit embarrasing.
paul did not insert chapters and numbers
he is describing what life was like for him under the law....ending in who will free me...
then He praises the one who HAS .

and pauls greatest sins were persecuting and murdering the saints, Did he continue to do so?absolutley NOT he utterly repented ,so please dont add embarrasment by throwing in the chief od sinners sentance out of context too

It's not his fault - it starts in the pulpit. How can one brainwashed pastor instruct lazy people that don't check out scriptures for themselves?

What's so hard about reading in context?

@sunlover1 You never responded to my post to you. Have you at least met the challenge and read what Paul meant in context. (Romans 7:7-25 all the way through chapter 8:1-10) Or did you, but it is still foolishness to you? You just keep studying to show yourself approved. Don't trust your pastor to teach you, as what you now know is blatantly unscriptural. He could be responsible for sending a whole lot of apathetic people to hell. And if you are not going to study for yourself out of boredom for the truth, remember '“The Lord will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.'

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

I willfully sin. Does this mean I'm not a Christian?
I guess you can read this . Written to believers and the writer ( a believer) warns all even himself.

"26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

There is a very powerless doctrine out there in the church today that teaches we will always sin, we will always be in the flesh, and we have to work at repenting every time we sin.

Frankly, my God is bigger than their god. What they believe is NOT the gospel, and it is sad.

1 John 3:5-9 is the test to whether or not we are saved. Everyone can easily test themselves. No one has to try to bate us into telling them they are not saved. They can answer the question for themselves.

5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. 7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; 8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
