I wonder if Christ will be recognized by many when He returns. What form will He take? If the Lamb of God comes as the Lion of Judah will we know that it is Him? If He comes in the form of a homeless man, a woman, a youth or an uneducated person will we know Him? Can we hear God's voice through someone we have been recently introduced as well as someone as familiar as a family member?
When the Spirit of God convicts us of sin, do we consider it condemnation and refuse it? Do we confuse guilt with shame, conviction with condemnation? Do we confuse love with comfort or complacency?
Do we worship the word of God or the God of the word? Do we know Him or know about Him?
Do we limit God by attributing manifestations of God's power and His glory to the evil one or to Charlatans? Does fear of man demand that God remain within the boundaries of our religious history? Will we allow God to do a NEW thing and still know it is Him? Will we have a form of Godliness and deny His power to save, deliver, heal and to love? Do we test the spirits with a man made standard?
John 17 brings me great comfort because I know that Jesus promised that he would keep all those who were entrusted to Him by the Father. He prayed that we would be kept from the evil one. That we would be sanctified with the truth. Let us be free to grow in our relationship with God, trusting that God is able to keep us until the day of redemption.
