  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey there Ya'll do any of ya'll have the same problem that I have here???

I have the hardest time finding anyone that is even with in two years of my own age in most Churches arrg!!!

It can get really depressing when all that you ahve to talk to and hang out with are guys and girls that are either 5 years + older or younger than you are.

Let me know and post any solutions????

Peace to all and may the Joy of the Lord shine on your face till we go home to Glory.

Try another church. Go to a young adults worship or meeting in another church even. You'll meet Christians from other churches, make some new friends, and maybe even meet a few girls that you're interested in! You can't lose!

I don't see why + or - 5 years would be a huge deal. For me that would mean people roughly 18-28. Most people within that age range are going to be roughly similar to me as far as life stage goes. I could understand if it was + or - 10 years, but 5 isn't a huge deal once you get past high school.

i don't have a huge problem w/age gaps, i just don't understand why people think that church is a great place to meet someone to date. in all the time that i've been going to church, i've never been asked out by some christian guy. although i've never been in a co-ed bible study since graduating from college. maybe that's my problem. but no way am i doing a bible study just to meet guys. that's horribly lame. i really don't think that i'll ever meet a guy in church.

most of the people in my singles group are much older than me, well at least 2-3 years. It's not so bad since I'm about to be in the working world and some of them are still in grad school as well. I do have trouble relating to some things though. Like everyone coupling off and all.

Don't forget the hops. I'm told those are also essential.

As to the OP, I've been there. I was going to a church where all of the people my age left one by one (collage, moving away, just stopped attending) until I was literally the only one left in the 17 - 25 range, with only a couple more in the 25-30 range. About a six months ago, I finally switched from my old church to the one where my family is now, which is closer to home. I am in a christian collage town, and this new church happens to have a lot of the students attending. That is actually sort of a mixed blessing, which I won't go into now, but yeah, trying a new church can help.

I hesitate to say this, because I'm not sure, but it seems that as soon as I stopped looking really hard for a solution to the no friends problem, people just started arriving in my life from the most unexpected of places. I'm still trying to see where that will lead, and why it happend in the first place.

Hehehe... it always happens like that, doesn't it? ;) Give up the search and God drops off what you were looking for right in front of your face (or at your computer screen, in my case :p).

For me it was always difficult to find people whom I could relate to because I am an introvert and a very abstract thinker/communicator (read: I am good at confusing people and quickly get bored with discussing things with no theoretical or creative aspect to them). Then my senior year of high school, I randomly (to this day I honestly don't know how I even happened across some of them) discovered Christian message boards, which apparently attract types like me. Almost three years later, I've met quite a few of these people in person once or twice, some even more than that... and it's been awesome seeing how God filled that void in my life.

Now I am wondering how God will answer my prayer for a few more friends in person at college. Being a transfer student in my junior year, it is difficult here to meet like-minded people.

Yeah Tenor, I feel your pain. You've pretty much described my church to a T; all the people that are roughly my age are married w/kids and are dialed into that group. I'm reduced to attending the "college/career" group, which is all 19-23ish.

I've been to some of the big box churches in my area, but I'm not really that into them; I've thought about attending some of the singles mixers or whatever they are, but haven't had the guts to go by myself...

FINALLY, who is in the same situation that I am speaking of....all of the people in my CHurch that are even close to my age are married, and most have kids. I can not stand to attend those big ole High churches. Yeah they are great and all, but I mutch prefer my good ole small 300-350 member country church. Its got a much better family feel to it.

I was just wondering what most people my age (25-30) do to meet others. It seens to me that there are not to many of us that are Christians to begin with. Not that I can find right now anyways.

Interesting. The church I moved to is quite a bit bigger then my old one... and this new one has about 350 members. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure what my church has for the 25-30 singles crowd, which apparently isn't much of a crowd. The way things are going, maybe I'll have to start something in a few years. :D
