That's very catholic. I've noticed that you are thinking more and more along catholic lines.

Also found among Orthodox and a number of the smaller ofshoots. I tend to see it the same way. I don't know when this process started; I can perceive it happening, and I have hope that it will complete, but I don't really know where to stick labels on it.

Bumped forward, hope thats ok.

This poll has closed with interesting result, for me the results are very very relieving.

YES = 8.57%

NO = 54.29%

God gives understanding after salvation = 25.71%

Don't know = 11.43%

First of all thankyou for all responding to this poll, I ran it for a week and I must say and pleasantly surprised at the result. :thumbsup:

The concept of trinity has intrigued me. Since I started to attend a Baptist church I felt it was necessary to salvation to believe in trinity and set about a few months ago to pray to God for understanding and undertook an extensive study on this topic.
I am thinking of posting the study, I might have to ask permission first.

To my surprise I did not come to a firm conclusion. Yet I found I was in a position of just not comprehending rather than denying trinity.

  • I accepted that Jesus Christ died for my sins and by me asking for forgiveness has allowed me to have fellowship with God in heaven. My acceptance of that was a step of faith and not based on concrete evidence.
  • God inspired The Bible, again not on concrete evidence but what The Bible gives us through The Holy Spirit.
  • I believe the Bible is God’s word to us
  • I do believe The Bible shows us passages that state there is only one God.
  • I do believe there are several passages that state that the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are one. (1John5:7)
  • A small child cannot comprehend many of the laws of physics and chemistry, but that does not make the laws void or non-existent.
  • Could my lack of comprehension be likened to that of a child? Would my lack of comprehension nullify the ‘law’ of the trinity anymore than the child’s does the law of science? Can we blame a child for a lack of comprehension? Can we blame ourselves for our lack of comprehension of many of God’s mysteries? Would God blame us? I think not, simply because he knows our limitations. However He does just ask us to do things by faith ( Abraham and Isaac’s sacrifice) when things are beyond our comprehension we must go by faith.
  • Perhaps this poll has shown me that Salvation comes from when you accept that Christ was a perfect and eternal sacrifice for my sins. Not if Christ was God. The Bible does not say to accept Christ as God and you will be saved, it says to accept Christ as the perfect sacrifice of my sins to God and you will be saved.

Son of Thunder . . . .

May I ask a question?

Do you really think an on-line poll is the best plumb line to use to measure your faith, your belief, against?

Peace

No, thats not the reason I used the poll.

I grew up one of Jehovah's Witnesses, they believe Jesus is Michael the arch angel. and not in the trinity.

So when I left I felt that I should study the major differeneces and I often got responces stating that unless I believed Jesus is God I could not even get to starting point of salvation.

So, although in my heart I loved God, and knew that without Jesus Christ I had no way to fellowship with the Ftaher or have a hope of eternal life. I had doubts about trinity even after study. ( I am happy to post the study)
Now I found I was in a position of not knowing or not comprehending, I didn't deny, nor was I able to be 100% certain,

If my salvation depends on me guessing or hoping I got it right I felt dissapointed and uncertain.

Thats why I thought I would get a clear idea of how many believed it is essential to salvation to have faith that Jesus IS God....then you get saved.

Thats why I did it, and I like the results.
