Just to sort of play off the head covering thread for the ladies. I thought I would make a poll for us guys.

So do you have a beard?

Of course, I mean that I would have one if I was male and therefore grew one, but that's because shaving every day would get to be a drag.

If i was a male, i would grow a beard if i could. I really love beards, i'd probably have somthing like Cat Stevens or Matisyahu.

...and a darn fine one I have! It is probably around 3" below chin. I have had them down to chest, but the wife hates it! I would do the Russian Orthodox/ZZ Topp look if I could get away with it....I certainly have the genes to do so! :^{0>

My mum freaks out when I don't shave for two days.

Give yourself a couple of years lad. I was 21 when my face last saw a razor!....that makes my beard (in various configurations) 24years old!

Why is there NO bearded emoticon? They are all clean shaven! drats!

I had one but shaved it, I just have a goatee now. I shaved it partly because of work, and partly because of looks I would get after 9/11. People thought I was Muslim. It also didn't help that my hair was half way down my back, and I would wear it in a bun I also cut my hair now too...

I tried to grow one, but I have so little on top that it just plain looks like I'm trying to compensate. Besides, after 9/11, I was getting searched WAY too often in airports (I'm not kidding). Looking like the Lebanese side of the family makes you look "suspicious," I guess.

Guess I should slap a picture of myself up here one of these days so you can see what I mean...

I don't think they'd be too happy at my work with me growing a beard... But I'm going to a monastery for a week soon and I'm planning to leave my razor home. I guess one week is not enough to grow a real beard, but it will actually be the longest time ever. I never let go more than 3-4 days without shaving ever since I was 17 or something, so I have no idea what my beard would look like if I let it grow, except that it's black.

I grew one when I became Orthodox, but I live in Florida so it made me sweat like crazy. Maybe this winter.

A lot of people somehow still consider most people with headscarfs and beards as "Muslims".
It's true, but i myself wouldn't want to be asociated as a Muslim, just because i was wearing a headscarf, which perhaps is the case when i do sometimes wear my headscarf outside. My tannish complexion and middle-eastern features definatley does make everyone think that i'm a Muslim.
