  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you go to doctors?

Do you go to doctors?

  • I go all the time.

  • I go maybe every year or two.

  • I go maybe every 4 or 5 years.

  • I seldom if ever go to the doctor.

They say that people with hypochondria live longer, because they run to the doctor over every tiny little thing and when it does turn out to be something, doctors can do more early on.

But I am wondering, do you go to doctors right way or do you wait and see if nature will run it's course and you will get better on your own?

I hate to go to the doctor. I see a group of nurse midwives for female stuff though, and I never mind going there in the least.

I take my kids for check-ups, but I often wonder why since they inevitably pick up a virus in the waiting room.

When the kids are sick, I do my very best to ride out the illness before resorting to the doctor. But when I get worried and call the pediatrician's triosh nurse to make sure I'm doing okay for them.

I didn't vote, because I visit the doctor somewhere between "all the time" and "every year or two". All the time was not qualified..every week? every month? Is 2-4 times a year all the time?

I don't get sick much, but I get a yearly checkup and if I am very sick, in a lot of pain, or injured, I would not be so masochistic as to not seek relief and care. Sometimes the dr will save your life. Try ignoring chest pains when you reach a certain age and see if your heart attack "just goes away".

I visit healthcare providers several times a year, when I have insurance that helps pay. Dentist every 6 months, GYN once a year, dermatologist every couple of months--plus, if I've got an infection I'll go to the doctor for antibiotics.

Unfortunately, we don't have very good ins right now ( my fault--I'm working on that) so not even those preventative checkups and treatments right now until I get insurance for us thru my job. If I begin graduate school in the fall, we will have to go back to no insurance/only for cutting our arms off insurance.

If I'm sick, I usually drink lots of fluids and sleep. I'm usually only sick with colds/flu every 5 years/random 24 hour sickness every other year--in other words, viruses that the doctors can't really do anything for anyway. I'm young, in good health--I don't need to go to the doctor.

Doctor schmoctor.

I'm far too full of bullspit machismo to visit a doctor. If my leg falls off I may give it some thought.... :)

Yeah, my roommate has the same attitude. Then he recently discovered he has a long-standing sinus infection (which he's apparently had for years).

And he kept wondering why his nose was always dripping and stuffed up...

Feh.  What a big girl's blouse.  :p

In all seriousness, if I developed a chronic discomfort or other condition I would see to it, but fortunately longstanding good health has not given me the need.
