I am sure Jesus forgave him. Judas wasn't all that bad and deserves to be in heaven. At least, he was humble enough to acknowledge his mistakes ... how many of us do that?

Except that if you actually read the bible you would know of

John 17:12
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

Jesus called Judas the son of perdition. He also called him a devil:

John 6:70-71 "Have not I chosen you Twelve, and one of you is a DEVIL?

It is called hyperbole. Sometimes, poets do that to emphasize the evil nature of certain acts. Not to be confused with theological speculations...

So you are saying Jesus didn't really mean it when He called him the devil and the son of perdition (son of perdition is also used to describe the devil)? He was just being poetic?
Thankfully He wasn't being poetic when He said that He was the only way to the Father.

Those are Jesus' own words. You disagree with Him?

Jesus said He is the Way the Truth and the Life. I trust He was being dead serious. Seriously.

I think one has to be careful when writing off some of the apostles. When Yeshua turned on Peter and said to him, 'Satan, get thee far from Me', obvisouly Peter wasn't Satan himself! In the same way, Judas wasn't a devil himself but yes, he was posessed by a devil. The same goes for the Pharisees; Yeshua did say that they were 'of their father the devil' and yet Yeshua also told us to do what they tell you to do! And that if your righteousness isn't more than their's, you can not enter into heaven. That's a big statement!

Shalom,

While reading the gospel, do you ever feel sorry for Judas? I know he did a bad thing and all, but do you feel he was a good man who was tricked into doing a bad thing? A really evil and heartless man wouldn't have felt remorse - enough remorse to hang himself. An evil man would've enjoyed watching Jesus (or anyone else, for that matter) suffer; he wouldn't have felt so much regret and guilt.

Not supporting Judas or his actions, but was he really all that bad? All disciples betrayed Jesus, even Peter denied him. We're okay with that, yet we seem to be unforgiving with respect to Judas.

Simon
In regards to Christian theology and Christian belief, in the story I actually do feel sorry for Judas.

Without Judas, Jesus would have never been crucified simply because, was the Roman guard going to pick and choose and crucify until they found Jesus? I highly doubt that.

So Judas played into a divine plan because of the attributes of God. His betrayal was divine. The sole purpose of his existence was to end in suicide and to betray a person whom he loved.

Its a horrible part in the Gospel story, absolutely horrible.

I feel sorry for the Jews. The character of Judas was created in order to represent the particular Jews who rejected the messiah. The character of Jesus represents the followers of Christ.

The phony "antichrist" Christians, the ones who use his name, are the ones who have carried that same persecution spirit with them for the past 2000 years. They are responsible for the Holocaust, because the people who persecuted Jews (good people) have always thought they were doing their "Christian duty".

They still reject the lamb in favor of the beast. You can see it in their politics for proof of what is inside them. Those who worship the beast are false and are literally antichrists.

Old thread is old.

No, I have no sympathy for Judas, but that doesn't mean I also relish his death. All that happened with Judas up until his death is deeply unfortunate. You
talk about evil as if there is only one kind, which is not true; but all are equally sinful. You also elude to Judas doing a 'bad' thing but not something one would typically deem 'evil.'

What was the very reason that ultimately persuaded Judas to give Jesus up to the Pharisees? ...Thirty pieces of silver. Money. And what does the Bible say about the love of money? That the love of money is the root of all evil.

Nothing will drive humankind quicker to commit evil acts than the enticement of money and the power and freedom they believe it will bring them. ...Judas was literally willing to lead them straight to Jesus and point him out by actually walking up to Him and giving him a kiss. ...I think there was something inside of Judas that probably knew what he was doing was wrong and would haunt him in the end, and yet he still did it.

So again, no, I don't feel bad for Judas because he knew exactly what he was doing and that it would lead to the death of an innocent human being, whether the Son of God or not. There is no justifying what he did and the why behind it, and there shouldn't be any rejoicing in his death either. The whole affair is terrible and should be a very solemn reminder to us all.

Jesus felt sorry for Judas.

Jesus ate bread with him, shared fellowship with him, showed him such powerful love. When Jesus was betrayed by Judas he didn't say "you wicked traitorous snake! You'll burn for this!" He said "Friend, why did you come?" which I imagined pained Jesus greatly.

I saw a quote once that said something like "Man won't eat their last meal on the earth with their enemy, but Love does."

(Based on Luke 16 with Lazarus in Heaven and the rich man in hell) I believe one reason why there will for a certain period of time for interaction between those between two different eternities is because we will get to hear and possibly see the absolute wickedness of those who reject Christ whilst they're in their torment. And we'll know how and why they are getting what they are getting

So the two posts that were ahead of mine when I posted this appear to have been deleted. Which now makes it seem as though I was the one who resurrected this thread. :sigh:
Ahaha it looks like you're trouble making xD
