It is unbelief not to believe the word of God written.
Do you believe in any other miracles, any that are not recorded in holy scripture?
I personally have not witnessed any physical miracles, but in light of the NT, I have no basis for believing they cannot happen.

Of course. But I am skeptical of most claims nowadays, and yes, including protestant claims.

I do.
I am a grateful recipient of a number of miracles and have witnessed miracles in the lives of many other believers.
I will give you an example that I have mentioned here before: Jesus Christ set me free from a 5 pack per day cigarette habit in a split second. I was also using up to a can per day of chew, trying to cut down on smoking, often using both at the same time.
Gone at the same moment.
No cravings. No withdrawal. No offense taken when others would smoke near me.
It was if I'd never smoked.
I am free. Jesus set me totally free from tobacco.
I must also say that he gave me a soft heart for those bound by tobacco and have never used my freedom to speak unkindly to them, but encourage them to seek God when asked how I was able to quit.

Intellectually I believe God can perform miracles, but I get a bit cynical if I ask for one - for example asking for healing for somebody.

I'm afraid my attitude is "I'll believe it when I see it."

On the other hand I've had some spiritual experiences which I think are out of the ordinary. One involved a manifestation (not my father on the night he died as I've already mentioned that too often). I heard another chap, an ex-homosexual, give a testimony in church (years ago) when he claimed that on his second, serious suicide attempt when he was just about to pull the plug, Christ materialised in the corner of the room, moved towards him and somehow merged.

He said from that time on he never even had to struggle with the temptation of homosexuality despite being involved in everything going in Sydney - BDSM, all male nightclubs, mardi gras etc. He said he met a woman who accepted his past, and she and their two young sons were there to prove it.

The manifestation in my own case was demonic. When I was about 15, I was walking home from a run or hockey practice (something like that) and I walked along the downstairs side of the house. As I did so I could see someone who looked very much like my father with his back to me next to the laundry area.

I remember thinking "Has he got a brother I don't know about!!?" He did have a younger brother who died a few years earlier when he was 31. But then this thing turned towards me, grinned at me demonically, and then drifted over to where my father was doing something at his work bench (which was good quality incidentally). It moved behind my father, and then merged. As it did so, my father looked at me and his face was demonic.

I bolted up the back stairs! I thought there was something wrong with my mind! In those days I wasn't the least bit religious, and seeing demons was the last thing on my mind. It was a complete shock.

If the spiritual world can manifest itself from time to time, I fail to see why miracles cannot occur. But they seem to be few and far between. When there is an alleged medical miracle, I tend to wonder how much the medical profession contributed to it.

Likewise I get a bit irritated when someone has a "miraculous" escape eg. they missed the plane flight that crashed.

What about all the people who were killed? So while I firmly believe miracles can occur, I'll believe in a miracle when I see it.

Worth mentioning is the fact of God's point-of-view. WE are the ones attributing miracles as more-or-less supernatural, or other than what otherwise would have happened (or failed to have happened). WE are the ones who assume that the world moves along without assistance or cause by God, only to now-and-then be changed by God's intervention. But that is far from the truth. "In him we live and move and have our being", is no less true for the things we consider "inanimate", than it is for us supposedly 'sentient' creatures.

In a certain sense, one might say that since God created and sustains all fact, then it is all miracle!

Who even begins to know how God's particular care and providence are behind everything we consider usual, normal, natural?

A miracle does not have be as dramatic as parting the Red Sea. I think it is very short sighted to believe the creator of the universe lost His ability to perform miracles as He wills. They still happen today, I have been healed by a Loving compassionate God. It does sadden me when professing Christians teach God no longer performs miracles today.

Yes. But the meaning of “miracle” in the Bible is something like “a manifestation of God’s power”. It doesn’t mean something like a “magic trick”. I do think that miracles can occur outside of Christianity. In the end, everything is God’s work, most of the time he just allows thing to happen in accordance with the “laws of nature” which He created.

The ones recorded in The Bible yes, those miracles had a very specific purpose. Is God working miracles through people now, like God did through Paul, etc.. I do not see evidence of this.
Many churches who teach miracles are past most likely will not see them. There are many stories from missionaries of many miracles where the people have not been inoculated with unbelief. Frankly claims by some of “ I haven’t seen one so I don’t believe it” is not a judge of reality.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.

3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

In contemporary times does God answer prayer yes. Will God heal through the prayers of believers yes. Does God save or help out believers through prayer yes.
Are these the same as what is seen in The Bible as recorded miracles.

You judge. When in my twenties I was at a revival service. I went forward at a general alter call to pray. Not even at that time thinking about about an issue I had had for several years in my stomach. Very painful at times but I had learned to live with it. The evangelist approached me and said you have a problem in your stomach area and God is healing you right now. The evangelist did not know me and I had never spoken to anyone ever about my condition. What I believe happened was the evangelist was given a word of knowledge about me and I was given a gift of healing from loving God who is the same yesterday today and forever. In my twenties then now 70 I have never had the same problem again. Note I was not at that alter praying for healing at that time I wasn’t even thinking about it. Was this a miracle? You judge. It was a supernatural event by any analysis. To close I had a pastor whose wife was born with no eyeballs in the sockets. Here mother began to pray and God performed a creative miracle to give here two beautiful eyes. You judge!

I am not a judge of personal testimonials, especially from people who only exist as a person posting post on a website on a computer. All i know about you or any other person who post here is just that, nothing.

That is why i do not go beyond The Bible and what has been recorded in The Bible, as a topic for discussion.

Well that should be easy for you, since the Bible is full of miracles. Salvation is nothing short of a miracle and I am sure you are ok with that.

Receiving God's free gift of Eternal Life is stated in The Bible as a free gift. And how this free gift came about by the grace of God, but is believing in Jesus by a person described in The Bible as a miracle.

I know Jesus defeating death and taking away the sin of the world was a miracle. Our resurrection to Eternal life in our new body will be a miracle accomplished by God.

But is our believing in Jesus to receive Eternal Life salvation a miracle, i do not think so. But maybe it is, any Biblical verses that say belief in Jesus by a person is a miracle?

I am going to go out on a limb here and make an assumption. If I am wrong please correct me and you will have my complete apology. I believe your problem is not with God’s ability to perform miracles but is specifically with the operation of the gifts of the Spirit in the church today.
