WE ARE BAPTISTS, not Protestants, not reformed, just Baptists. Protestants are people belonging to churches that came out of Roman/Latin Catholicism. Reformed churches are those Protestant churches were in protest against Roman doctrine and dogma, as opposed to Arminian doctrine. Baptist churches were not born out of Romanism. We did not spring from the Protestant Reformation. While we appreciate and profit from our Protestant brethren, past and present, who are reformed in doctrine, we trace our history and our doctrine not to the Reformation, but to the New Testament. The first preacher of this gospel age was not John the Reformed, but John the Baptist!

Do you agree with the above?

I don't find anything to disagree with there!

On a different note..... I looked at your profile and ...

Dude! I've been to your church... two weeks ago in fact.
To be honest I go there all the time (when visiting your city)....:D

Your pastor D. is a good friend of mine!

Do I agree? No. Baptists are absolutely a product of the reformation. Baptist doctrine is absolutely opposed to romish doctrine, therefore "protestant." As a baptist, why should I deny my protestant reformation heritage? I cannot.
I didn't see the mod post when I posted. I deleted my post as I didn't know if it would be considered debate or not.

To put it in simple terms, Christians have existed in history that have held similar beliefs from the time of Christ, they had many names and were attacked by state churches. Anabaptists during the reformation and modern baptists today are both spiritual and physical outcome of Biblical church that was founded by Christ.

The Bible makes us baptists, it's really that simple.

I'll just call you a Christian! One who names the name of Christ! That's the best title you'll ever get.
