  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you agree that christians should keep the 10 Commandments? (4)

Then refer to it in such a way as to distinguish what you're talking about. And don't mix the 2. Would save lots of wear and tear among other things. I think this really illustrates the importance of words and their use.

Now if you want to establish yourself differently you have that opportunity. Just be aware that it will take some time.

Like I said if you wish to follow a list of rules, more power to you. Be my guest and knock yourself right out. I personally love my liberty in Christ Jesus. The reward for works is death - Romans 6:23. Jesus gives life and the easy way. Yep a Yankee in spirit as well. The easy way comes natural to me.

The wages of sin is death. Lawlessness is sin, so breaking God's law is sin.
Your theology would not hold up in a human court of law, much less in God's day of judgment. Your so called freedom is simply a cloak to cover sin.

Hi brightcandle. Long time no see.

Indeed lawlessness is sin. Where do you get the idea I'm lawless? From refusal to submit to a superceded covenant? A superceded law can't be violated. I'm under the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus which has made me free from the law of sin and death - also known as the law and called the ministration of death. I'm also led by the Spirit and not by the law. I have no need of a tutor any longer as I'm a Christian.

Bless you. I certainly need to be condemned by something and the law no longer does that to me. Now do I fit in your camp of the condemned?
If you feel condemnation.. when it is between you and the Lord.. you will have to work it out with the Lord..

I don't believe that it is God who is condemning bro scratch. (Romans 8:1) Therefore the condemnation is coming from man, not God.
Only scratch is feeling it.... so therefore it is a matter between him and God.

I direct you to I Tim 1:9-10. Of course it is ony effective for the Christian because the tutor led them to Chirist where they got this righteosuness from as a very expensive gift which can't be earned or bought.
So. How does that negate the Holy Law.

The righteous (those who trust in Christ and His finished work on the cross) do not negate THE law...THE law is fulfilled in them.

THE law is negated when a person, who believes that he must keep THE law in order to perfect his salvation does not keep it COMPLETELY and PERFECTLY according to James 2:10

Thanks for the warm welcome. One of the most important jobs that the Holy Spirit has is to convict men and women of sin. Do you claim to live in a state of perfection, and never commit sin?

The Bible defines sin as lawlessness. 1 John 3: 4-9 "Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. 8Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’sb seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God."
