I always hear people say that while we are in the flesh or in our "depraved sinful bodies" we will always live lives of repeditive sin. I couldn't agree more, but are we not suppose to die to that body of death and be re-born into a body of life? A body that is no longer subject to rule and rein of our sinful natures which is what made us depraved in the first place?

Does this statement make since:

We are depraved because our nature is to be sinful, but when we are born-again we die to our oldselves but yet we remain depraved because we are bound to our bodies of death.

We live in a corrupted or marred body. The problem with the technical doctrine of 'Total Depravity' but forward by Calvin is that in essence he meant that there is nothing we can do to save ourselves - a refutation of salvation by works - but a popular reading of 'Total Depravity' has led to a different train of thought that human beings are "totally depraved" - which is incorrect. The devil is totally depraved - we however, although governed by depravity expressed through the Fall are still capable of responding to truth and revelation - a totally depraved creature is not capable of this response - total depravity is a choice - you are either moving towards total depravity, brutishness or total christlikeness - fulfilled sainthood - there is no middle ground - no static liberal humanist consensus - which is deception - every choice moves you one way or the other.
