  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

why is it ok for her to be fascinated by it and reading about it since she was 12, but not others??
I haven't gone back and reread every post sweetkitty has made in this thread, but I don't recall her saying it was 'ok' for her but not others. She explained her interest in and with the subject, and asked in the OP why do we need to fill our minds with these sorts of things.

To me there's a big difference between reading a couple fiction (and non-fiction) books a week regarding the subject and the following:
The disks include more than 400 hours of video and nearly 8,500 pages of transcripts, said Derek Dohn, CEO of Chameleon Data, which compiled the DVDs. They comprise 106 days of interviews that took place between June 13 and Dec. 16, 2003, and the retail price for the set is $2,220.
400 hours of video? 8,500 pages of transcripts?? Now THAT is filling our minds in my opinion.

But I'd draw the line at John Wayne Gacy's clown paintings, because clowns are evil.

THere's a pizza parlor, of all things, near my apt. with a Gacey painting on the wall. I follow the Sociopath plan on this one: I'm considerably less spooked that it was painted by him than the fact that it's a clown on the wall, watching me as I eat pizza.

Kelly one is fiction, the other is not.
apparently she has a problem with the nonfiction, yet she proceeded to say she read helter skelter and it got her interested in it.

POINT> Sociopath already made it. Those who buy those books (all of us, including opening poster) are the ones responsible for this.
